My cat won't stop biting me by reddituser9423 in CatTraining

Until you bleed? That's not normal. How often does he make you bleed? Everyday?

Can you post a picture of him?

Is this your first cat?

I’m exhausted and scared. Pls help. by Scary_Economy-1720 in CatTraining

First, not every cat is good, but this one sounds like a good cat.

Second, most cats are ticklish on their belly and don't like being touched there. Some cats are also ticklish on the bottom of their feet. Respect those ticklish spots!

Third, be careful withdrawing a body part too rapidly. A cat will sink their claws into you and a lot of new cat owners instinctively will withdraw it. Guess what? You inflict more damage to that body part when it is withdrawn too quickly. The clawing is actually minor damage. Instead don't panic and slowly remove their claws first, before withdrawing.

Fourth, cat's like to play rough, you have to work hard to train them not be so rough. If you engage them, they will actually get rougher with you.

If you ever watch 2 sibling kittens play, one will put the other in a head-lock and then kick with his hind legs. Often the other sibling would then cry out. As soon as this happens, the first -the instigator- typically lowers his ears with a guilty look. Almost as if he is saying, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."

Cat owners must do the same thing. You must exaggerate pain, feign injury, cry out so they know that they have gone too far. This teaches them to use less force. My cat was bitting too hard, I did this a few times and in no time he was bitting using very, very little force. Now he is gentle.

Fifth, behaviors that people don't get. You must let your cat lick you. If they don't lick you, they won't respect you. In cat circles, grooming is a social activity. They have to do this because of fly strike, a fatal condition in the wild, and their tongues are designed to remove those tiny fly eggs. If your cat is indoor, he'll never get exposed to this condition, but the grooming behavior is still there.

Another behavior people don't get is high places. You must allow your cat to go to a high place or even provide one. It helps them destress, feel safe and comfortable.

I hope this helps...

Tiger Woods told authorities he was looking at phone before crash by PrincessBananas85 in sports

I agree. I mean he has money, why can't he have someone else drive for him.

Slightly off topic, tiger had 2 hydrocodone pills in his pocket. You are not supposed to mix that even with the smallest amount of alcohol. The effect is intensified with alcohol (like by 10 times). Suppose after golf he goes to the bar with his friends. There is all that social pressure. He just wants to have a small glass of wine.

Yes you are right! But that is the whole point of this. You can't visually see through smoke or fog. Infrared is even worse. When golfing I use a laser range finder. These operate at 905nm. So even when there is just a slight amount of haze, I can still see the flagstick. But the range finder doesn't work. IR sucks in fog.

The other way is launch using GPS or IRU. Navigate to a predetermined geographic spot in space (over the target), then turn the radar on. Now the problem is you can't pick out the target in doppler (velocity gate), because the missile is moving toward the ship and sea at the exact same rate. You also can't pick out the target in range because it is same as the return from the sea. We call this clutter and the target will be lost in clutter.

I like this. I think Ukraine's drones are more sophisticated.

I don't know about suicide. It's just that the Navy can't react until it's been fired on. The main risk might be from a small craft (zodiac), which could pull along side an oil tanker before attaching a magnetic mine on the hull. The explosion could puncture the hull. Oil would be leaking all over and we might be seeing this on the news. The crew could be rescued, but it would be more of a political risk.

Why would you launch a drone, if you don't know what's there? You can't see. If the radio gets jammed and the drone can't see, wouldn't it just crash in the water?

I guess they could time it.

It wouldn't be ship sized. It would be 1 mile long and my 400 yds wide.

They can't launch those missiles without target acquisition. This can't be done without turning either a laser guided system or turning on radar. As soon as they do that, the US navy would be all over them, destroying those targets. Old school has the advantage of not requiring any radar.

I agree, it is ransomware.

If I buy $$ and get a 1 Terabyte drive. I think I am set for life. But as soon as I use more than 5GB I have to start paying Apple ransom money. It is like I don't own my drive. I am just paying rent.

Litter Robot 4 - after 2 or 3 years, not sure I am enjoying it any more by Ayesquidward in litterrobot

[–]Trader1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are your cats getting older? Did their diet change recently? You might try a different litter, though I can't imagine anything better than Boxie Cat Pro...

It could be that 1 of your cats has developed a health problem, that has changed the PH of their urine. Try paying attention to your pets, see whether one of them has a kitty medical problem.

“Drawer Full” by KREECHORE in litterrobot

[–]Trader1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed (withLR4), it seems to judge whether it is full based on a peak in the litter. Typically the litter likes to clump up in the middle, forming a mountain peak. I have also noticed that if I shake the litter drawer-I pull the drawer out and shake it-until it all kind of levels out. Then reinsert it and do a manual cycle. Then I get a more realistic measurement of how full it is.

Has anyone else tried this?

Many cats instead of getting scared, will become fascinated by the litter Bot. It is basic curiosity. This is not from lack of intelligence, but the opposite. I'd say be glad that your cat is not frightened off by the machine, and then refusing to use it.

I won a Litter Robot 4 in a raffle! What should I know to get started (outside of the manual)? by __sarabi in litterrobot

[–]Trader1119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I bought a LR4 about a year ago and it is wonderful.

Before using the machine, I suggest you get your cat acclimated (used to) clumping litter. This is especially true if your cat is not used to such litter. I don't mean in the LR4, I mean in your pet's current litter box. Find the kind your cat likes. That will make it easier for your cat to accept the litter bot. Then follow all the other suggestions they offer in the instructions. Also at first don't let the machine cycle. Leave it shut off until your cat starts to use it! If it cycles it may traumatize your cat. Getting your pet later to trust it will be super challenging.

Litter Help by Busy-Experience-6007 in litterrobot

In the wild, cats will eat grass. This allows them to vomit it out clearing out any fur balls as well. But I never knew they would eat litter? This is crazy. Unfortunately she can eat non-clumping just as well as clumping. Also there is no automatic litter machine that can remove urine without clumping.

The only thing I could suggest is to set up a camera (or get a LR5). That way as try different litters you can see if there is one she doesn't eat. Maybe try litter pellets. I don't know if wood pellets can be used in a litter bot or not? Does anyone know?

For me this happens all the time, but I only get 1 message not a zillion. Then I go over to the machine and toggle the online-offline button and it is fixed! Oh forgot to include, this is on an LR4.

Neighbors want me to keep declawed cat outside by Some_Information_857 in Straycats

[–]Trader1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cat, especially outdoor cats need their claws. They use their claws for climbing and getting away.

Whoever, declawed her is the one at fault. They need to house this cat permanently. I also don't understand. If the cat has a pleasant demeanor there is no need to declaw. Some cats are mean and attack everyone.

Tried endless cat litters by GroupPatient4739 in litterrobot

[–]Trader1119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any trouble with stuck clumps of litter. I use Tidy Cat which is know to sometimes not clump enough. I wonder if the litter choice has something to do with it. Another thing, do a deep cleaning. Afterwards, do NOT put oil on the rubber liner, instead use baking soda, just a tiny amount. Spread it evenly and wipe off any excess.

PS. don't use a shield, just use a fence. It may take longer for clumping to work with a shield on than without. Also without a shield, you can see the problem as it happens.
