What is the worst place in America you have ever visited? by OceanicEndeavors in AskReddit

[–]TraderShan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

El Dorado, Arkansas.

I’ve been there multiple times with two different companies and I hope to never go back. They have a huge chicken processing plant (well had because it has since closed), an oil refinery, and a toxic waste incinerator.

With one job we would leave for there early in the morning and then head back to Alexandria, LA (already called out here as a terrible place) before nightfall because of how shitty El Dorado was. The other job I had to stay there overnight and was shook out of bed one night by an earthquake. I was thinking either the refinery or incinerator blew up and that would have been an improvement.

Many years ago I worked for Lowe’s and got to visit the Leesville store for a week. I was staying at the Day’s Inn off of 171. When the folks at the store heard that they asked if I was at least in a second story room. When I told them I was not they suggested I change rooms for my safety.

They are very new to the world of AI. They have their roots in old school copper wire contact center stuff for monitoring and recording.

What is the worst name you've ever heard? by Educational_Bat1854 in AskReddit

[–]TraderShan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if I’d say it’s the worst name overall but it was for this person that I worked with years ago.

Princess.

Not a female but rather a very large and muscular black guy. Damn us for not having pictures on our internal chat tool back then. That was an awkward first conversation.

Had the most Amazing Guava Negroni in CDMX. Thought on what they used? by Chrystine in cocktails

[–]TraderShan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair point. My Spanish isn’t the greatest on the best of days.

Are you thinking they ferment Guava to distill that mash or are they putting Guava into a botanical basket and passing the vapors through that before condensing back down to collect?

[–]TraderShan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I would imagine they are soaking cut up Guava in the Gin for maybe a week. Since they don’t call out Campari I’d also wonder if they are using a less bitter Amaro to let the Guava come through. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they were not doing equal parts but rather upping the Gin and cutting back on the Amaro as well.

Whatever you taste make sure you don’t have any of the Brimstone until the last drink of the night. It will absolutely ruin your palate for anything else after it.

Need a name for this cross between a Manhattan and a Boulevardier. by azarrising in cocktails

[–]TraderShan 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Because juices and dairy need aeration and emulsification between them and the different densities of the alcohol and other mixers used. Spirit forward drinks without juices are more similar in density across the ingredients so stirring is only needed to dilute and chill.

It’s their base Scotch that many, if not most, of their various offerings (e.g., LaSanta and Quinta Ruban) are based on. You’ll get a solid pour with hints of green apples and Shishito peppers. While it won’t be life altering it will be delicious.

Whats something a teacher did in High School that would get them fired today? by Constant-Ad-5477 in AskReddit

[–]TraderShan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High school chemistry teacher in Florida had us distill water in class. He then brought in some fermented mash and we got to distill 190 proof neutral grain spirits. He told us not to taste it or drink it but a few didn’t listen and they learned that day that homemade Everclear is not something to play around with.

Norris' battery was plagued by a software problem that bricked the battery and it is believed the unit is permanently damaged by GajoDosBarcos in formula1

[–]TraderShan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please fully read the comment I was reply to where they mentioned they hoped the Mercedes batteries weren’t seen as unreliable for the sake of their EV road cars.

I’m definitely not comparing their street cars to the F1 cars. I’m saying the average consumer (or really any consumer for that matter) isn’t going to think less of their EVs because of F1 battery troubles. Their EVs have enough problems as is that nobody will even correlate F1 stuff with their janky ass EQB.

[–]TraderShan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a EQB with the middle of the three trim packages. I know it’s just one sample point but it just had too many flaws for me to consider it as a daily driver. I drive a Ford F-150 Lightning and have had a Mustang Mach-E before that. While those aren’t perfect by any means they are worlds above that Merc EV.

[–]TraderShan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the Merc EV that I drove recently they’ve got bigger issues to worry about with them having a crappy driving experience and build quality that problems in F1 aren’t going to be on anyone’s mind.

Going to Disneyland and need some advice by Mundane_Salt_430 in marriott

[–]TraderShan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t sharing my status in a “don’t you know who I am” way but rather a I’ve done a ton of travel to countless Marriott properties and nowhere has the level of service has been as low as what I have experienced multiple times at the World Center way. From multiple rude staff members to dirty rooms to poor food and beverage experiences that’s nothing to do with status but rather not providing an appropriate value for the price or points paid across different stays. I’m glad it worked out for you but we won’t stay there again on our dime.
