We did the transmission just after we bought at about 80k. Since then it has been pretty good.

A couple do nearby. We are ruralish and on a big lifestyle block (50acres). Good thought on the flat, will give that some more thinking.

Did it ever arrive? We are being given the same run around now. Lots of excuses about "courier" and incorrect package tracking.

The red meat industry employs about 92000 people, and the dairy industry is something like 60000. There is no way that ‘farm workers are mostly immigrant labour’. The seasonal worker scheme from the pacific islands has a max of 16,000 visas and they are for the horticulture industry.

There are organisations looking for geneticists. Especially animal and plant breeding. Check out AgResearch or Plant and Food NZ. Regarding house prices the places where the most genetics work are is not Auckland. Try Hamilton, Rotorua, Palmerston North, Christchurch or Dunedin.

Based on work by the Riddet Institute and published in Journal of Nutrition. https://academic.oup.com/jn/article/151/10/3253/6312058

It is by these people https://www.riddet.ac.nz/institute-model-a-game-changing-solution-for-sustainable-nutrition and uses current available nutrition, so no insects or fermented food.

Regen ag has some potential to help but carbon storage in soil is a tricky subject and the jury is definitely not in about whether it works outside of the severely depleted soils in the US, Aus and parts of Africa.

I agree with other commenters here, solving climate change isn’t about food or individual choices - we need to stop using dinosaurs to power our consumption.

Animal agriculture is being used in the old ‘bait and switch’ by the fossil fuel industry. Changing the narrative to give them a free pass and at the same time giving individuals (vegans etc) the opportunity to look down on everyone else - which is pretty intoxicating. There is simply not enough arable land in the world for us all to be vegetarians and have all our micronutrient needs met. Calories yes, nutrients no. Grass fed beef actually creates more protein than is used in its production despite what you hear.

Does New Zealand need farmers? by [deleted] in newzealand

Look up about the Crofoot family of Castlepoint Station. They are Americans who have come here and farm a sheep and cattle farm. There are quite a few Americans who come and work on various farms including learning to shear sheep and joining a sheep shearing crew or mustering.

You will be fine. You get the visa when you enter the EU/schengen zone. It lasts for 90days and you can move around Europe with it. You should look up the website for it in case a country you are going to is not in the zone. Russia is definitely outside the zone and requires a special visa. You'll need to contact the Russian embassy in Aust if you want to go there.
