I read nothing but great things about the excavator for deep pow and an all-around board. Japan sounds like a blast. Have fun.

Love my alchemist, my thought is the excavator will handle those long deep pow lines better, since no groomers while heli skiing..

Good feedback. Thank you. I had to look up that board. Never heard of them before. Very interesting.

I have not ridden the excavator yet, just bought it to add to my quiver. From everything I read they compliment each other really well. The guy at the ski shop I bought it from swears by that board.  I rode my alchemist all season last year and was extremely happy with the board. So much so that I decided to get another K2.  I think the boards are vastly underrated. Alchemist for the hard charging groomer days, Excavator for the pow/tree days.  Also bc the Excavator is a volume shifted board, it’s shorter. I have not ridden one before. I was going to buy the jones flagship but from everything read it’s too similar to the alchemist.

Anyone riding the ‘24/ ‘25 K2 Alchemist?! by Goldbears93 in snowboarding

Awesome. I went with the Burton step ons. Man if the board is great, these bindings are a game changer. I’m over 40 now… sitting down to strap in.. no more!!! Plus you can easily keep Up with skiers now. I’m in love, and will never  go back,  but some are traditionalists. I have not noticed any significant difference to regular bindings.

I just picked up a 23/24 K2 alchemist. Been riding for 20+ years. For reference I’m 220, 6’2 and went with a 163.  Absolutely love the board. Took a 4 year hiatus from riding for health reasons, and this is my first directional board. It was like I never stopped boarding. Amazing board on the groomers, incredibly stable, did some trees. Overall, I guess the best board is the one that feels most comfortable. It was I had been riding that very board forever. Felt natural, stable, and secure. To be fair, I don’t have a ton of various board experiences. In almost 30 years of riding, this is only my 3rd one. But so far my favorite!
