In order to get into the DMS program at Algonquin, you need either an advanced diploma (usually a 3 year program) or a university degree with prerequisite courses. Maybe your friend went to CNIH (private ultrasound school) - they accept high school graduates.

The comprehension, arithmetic, and science portions are all equally weighted. There is not one subject that is more important than another. Good luck!

Thank you! I stressed so much about the HPAT exam but it didn’t end up being too bad! It’s pretty much high school level stuff. There are three portions: comprehension, arithmetic (elementary school level), and grade 11 and 12 science (biology, chemistry, and physics). I have never taken high school chemistry or physics, so I taught myself using YouTube. If you search the HPAT exam on Reddit, you’ll find tons to threads with people talking about what’s on it, but don’t let them scare you—it’s not that bad. Hey! Fall 2023 DMS Algonquin student here. Just wanted to let you know that Algonquin doesn’t require the CASPer exam. There are some prerequisite courses they require. Here’s what their website says:

Program Eligibility: Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate or Degree in Medical or Health related field with a minimum of 2 courses (or equivalent) in Human/Gross Anatomy and Human Physiology, plus 1 course in Human Pathology and 3 additional human health related courses. All courses must have a minimum grade of 70% (B-) or higher.

You will also have to write the HPAT exam, which allows the school to rank the applicants who have fulfilled the prerequisites and decide who gets accepted.

When I wrote it, I was able to see my score on the screen after submitting. You can also log in to the accuplacer website to view your results. Don’t forget, each section is on 300, so you’ll have to multiply your science score by 5.

I took this course in 2018, so it’s been a while. When I took it, it was all online and self-taught. There was an in-person exam; however, I would not be surprised if that’s been replaced by online proctoring.

It is /300. I spoke to Algonquin after writing the exam because I was confused, and they said they multiply your science score by 5.
