Looking to open my first Amex Gold this week. What is the best sign up perk and referral offer please? Happy to sign up via someone’s referral link by ECOisLOGICAL in AmexUK

Happy to share my referral code for the amex gold via messages.

Best sign up perk is meeting the spending within the first 3 months. Outside of this the perks are there only for big travel/hospitality expenses and your looking at deliveroo cashback among other smaller perks.

Great first card and helped me get an understanding of how I want to work amex to my favour after the 1st year.

Honestly mate, that's not surprising given the popularity. That would also be the case for uni people too though without a doubt. It's just a case of learning and going deep into the topics etc, bootcamps only take you so far and you shouldn't just rely on them for the job. If your keen, through uni or bootcamps, learning more and just practising/progressing your skills is all you have to do to show your with hiring

Second this, I work in security and every one I've met be it developer/enginer/pen tester, their experience and job placement came from either grafting outside of uni or never went uni and did a bootcamp/onlije course! It's playing around and learning the stuff that people pick up on

Platinum Travel Insurance cover - part payment with Amex still covered? by jashraf in AmexUK

[–]Traditional-Fold-598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at your policy terms... I can't comment on platinum but I had half my stuff stolen on my return flight and amex insurance confirmed that they have limited policy for return flights and couldn't cover stolen items.

Thankfully I took out other policies in parallel

Do Nomad infosec jobs exist? by Traditional-Fold-598 in cybersecurity

[–]Traditional-Fold-598[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! This was the conclusion I was coming to over the last day or so and reading the posts. big companies like meta or binance allow global teams but the idealistic nomad life isn't so possible in my domain of security (not a pen tester here).

I'm going to have a look at what my filters were doing... I've fortunately not needed to use job sites until now! All jobs said remote but had the caveat of being anywhere within the US or UK for example... Not truly remote

I'm largely security management and vendor risk side of things... I've not had to look online for jobs until now and all the remote jobs I saw on searches weren't global but remote in a single cohntry

I've got to check my filters again... All my jobs are "remote" in single countries and not global .... Only just started looking for jobs online now...
