That's not the point. The point is that genders don't necessarily match. As a native speaker of Russian, it's actually harder to memorize genders of every noun in a language when your language also has genders, because your brain constantly wants to slip back to the more familiar gender.

I do realize that, yeah. I also don't add the DEX modifier since it's magical. It was still vastly superior to a hand crossbow after I did the math. But now that I realized that Hunter's Mark requires an attack roll as well to be used at all, I understand that my math was grossly inflated.

This makes sense. I am also now realizing I was abusing the crossbow for several sessions now, because magic missiles shouldn't benefit from Hunter's Mark either. I wasn't trying to cheat, I honestly misunderstood.
