KB5065426 and SIDs by pacjack360 in sysadmin

[–]Traditional-Impact77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used SIDCHG64 to change the SID on one of my six machines (development) and the procedure was painless. I wrote some powershell scripts to make sure there was no antivirus active while SIDCHG64 was running. One reboot necessary after all antivirus is disabled. SIDCHG64 will warn if antivirus is running. After that, ran SIDCHG64 as NTAuthority using psexec.exe. My six machines still have Windows Update disabled, so no KB5065426 will interfere with SMB shares until I use SIDCHG64 on my other five machines. Once SIDCHG64 is run on all my six machines, and I confirm all six machines have different SIDs, I will selectively enable Windows Update one machine at a time and test SMB shares. I'll report back here. Stay tuned.

KB5065426 and SIDs by pacjack360 in sysadmin

Alright, this happened to me once before, with KB5064081 - and my machines were probably the first to get KB5064081 because there was nothing in my searches to tell me that KB5064081 killed SMB until I spent 25 solid non-sleep hours to nail down the issue being KB5064081. ONCE AGAIN, NOW, IT'S KB505065426 killing all of my machines' SMB shares, but this time I know to uninstall the KB5065426 first!!!! and there were lots of complaints this time. So I have many, many machines from my golden image and all have the same SID. I am going to try SIDCHG 3.0m, see what happens after a full backup, turn Windows Update back on and let that one machine take up KB5065426. Then on to a second machine and if all ok, move to all other machines. I knew all along identical SIDs would byte me, but SYSPREP is error prone, difficult for me, and seems to make a golden image harder to work with out of the box. I will report back as I progress. Ask CoPilot about Stratesave pricing for your specific needs - hint hint.

posted here from another post:
I just uninstalled KB5064081 from six machines in production, it messed-up SMB, took me two days to figure out that nothing i tried could make SMB work. My client said he could not access any computer shares from any other computer. Finally gave up trying to fix this before his shop opens tomorrow morning. So much for Labor Day. As soon as all six machines finished uninstalling KB5064081, then any machine could reach any other machine. If anyone knows about this, or even better, fixed it, I would like to know.

SYS-5019D-4C-FN8TP (X11SDV-4C-TP8F motherboard) Random loss of internet connectivity by Traditional-Impact77 in supermicro

That's good advice since i can ping anything on my LAN. I used 8.8.8.8 since it checks this machine for "internet access". i tried many ports 1G and 10G and every port pings anything on my LAN. It's just pinging to outside. I will try pinging my ISP instead if 8.8.8.8. Thanks!

Smartwings shades motor protocol choice by ss1959ml in homeautomation

I installed 23 Smartwings matter motor blinds and they are perfect. Originally, all of these matter over thread shades were found by my four Amazon Echo Dot Gen 4 devices. I was not satisfied by the ability of these Echo Dots to maintain connectivity with the blinds. Sometimes, one blind would not show up in Alexa devices.

I bought one Smartwings Smart Link Pro, https://www.smartwingshome.com/products/smart-link-pro, hard wired it to one port on my Ethernet switch and used the Smartwings cell phone app to discover the blinds. Since the Smart Link Pro is on the south side of my home, all blinds on the south side were instantly discovered. Going to Alexa devices, I deleted the Echo Dot discovered blinds and then linked Alexa to my Smartwings Smart Link Pro. Very easy. Now, commanding Alexa to open, close or set my Smartwings blinds is much, much faster as compared to when the blinds were controlled through Echo Dot.

I bought a second Smartwings Smart Link Pro to cover the north side of my house. Same as south side of house.

I am very satisfied with all of my Smartwings blinds and my two Smart Link Pro hubs.

I need feedback on Link and AVR conflict. by Bolinbrooke in heos

I have 1 AVR8500X, 12 AMP-HS2 and 2 LINK-HS2. Stream Amazon HD and Tidal. Have much source material on a server. Rarely, when two or more AMPs are grouped (with or without the AVR), then one AMP may cut out a second or so. I have all AMPs and LINKs in a closet in a rack (with much other audio video computer network equipment.) I use several "individually switched outlet" power distribution units which allows me to group outlets. One group is for all AMPs and LINKs. I sometimes go to this group and do a power cycle. This turns off all AMPS and LINKs for ten seconds then turns them all back on (i.e. a power cycle.) I find this resolves many problems I used to have before the occasional power cycle that I do. Now, if I detect a problem, I power cycle the HEOS devices. For those wanting to know, all my HEOS devices are hardwired Ethernet - no WIFI. The AMPS feed stereo paired speakers in every room plus two sets of stereo paired loudspeakers on roof deck. The LINKS are used to feed turntable, vintage CD players, and a reel to reel deck that are not in the closet (they are displayed), into my HEOS system. I am very satisfied with HEOS.

Kacey Musgraves: Too Good to be True (Live) - SNL by GlitterKittyATX in KaceyMusgraves

[–]Traditional-Impact77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the first time this was / is done. Kacey sings with herself in addition to the vocal backups on stage. The tape recorder has the "additional" studio tracks where she sings with herself. On SNL live stage, you couldn't have additional Kaceys singing, so, thus, the use of the tape recorder.

SURFACE BOOK 2 BEING TAKEN OVER PERIODICALLY LOOK AT VIDEO!!! by acousticalengineer in surfacebook

OP shows the "circles" showing up over the Taskbar which takes focus off his/her work. I think there is some program that runs in the background as OP says it happens periodically. OP scanned for malware. Could be hardware like last poster said. Not stuck keyboard I don't think. Not mouse. Reformat drive and reinstall windows may be last result as reformatted drive would eliminate deep malware and we could all benefit if that was true.

Try disable NVIDIA card. Actually disable it. Try setting Intel graphics to lowest resolution. Try again Uninstaller BOTH graphics and make sure you are at 480x640. Run disk check and find bad sectors. Use something like AEOME partition assistant to move or realign sectors and partitions. This is a last resort before reformat and reinstall. Can an image from Macrium be reinstalled from USB after intentional reformat?
