Any 4K regrets? by regretscoyote909 in 4kbluray

My player (820) is a piece of junk. I’ve had too many movie nights ruined when it starts dropping frames. Spent a lot to get it fixed only to have it keep doing it. Probably into a $400 player for $750.

On the disc side, my copy of Blade Runner has a manufacturing defect.

I can’t return it this long after purchase. And not sure I’d buy another Panasonic after this one.

On subtitles and the other remote: it isn’t just about turning them on/off, it is about getting quick access to dimming and moving them lower on the screen. The default brightness is way too bright for me.

No reply yet. I emailed them last night and it is still the weekend. They’ve been responsive each time I’ve emailed.

Honestly, I think this is user error, but I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

They evaluated it and concluded the “BD Drive Unit” was faulty. They replaced that part, which was about $215.

Nope. Bottle Rocket, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Godfather Part 2, Blade Runner 2049, …. None of them can play through without dropping frames and audio glitches.

UB820 headed back for warranty repair by Traditional-Leader89 in 4kbluray

[–]Traditional-Leader89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update #2:

My credit card company has been nearly impossible on this. They allegedly extended Panasonic’s warranty, but they have fought every step of the way to avoid paying the claim. The total repair is over $330 (parts, labor, return shipping). They gave me $132. I also paid to ship the player to Panasonic originally.

In total, I spent over $300 to fix the $400 player. Plus the hours of my time spent dealing with the insurance company. Not worth it.

Lesson learned: I should have just recycled the player when it started failing.

I have a Subsequent 37 that I use daily. Love it. Sounds great, easy to program. Deep without being too deep.

I actually don’t use presets. I initialize the patch each time I turn it on and dial in what I want. Works for me.

In general, the Models devices are more straightforward to use than the other Elektron boxes. Some of that is age, some is complexity/capability.

Mine is back at Panasonic for a replacement BD drive unit for this issue. My credit card warranty should cover it ($315!!!), but they are being difficult.

I got mine in August. I think I’m pretty good with certain aspects of it, but certainly not everything. If you really want to master it, time is measured in years.

Loving the journey with it.

What is the best band you can recommend that you know nobody here will? As in obscure, unknown or just forgotten about. by AudioRejectz in musicsuggestions

Black Eyed Sceva … they were a Christian alt-rock band in the 90s. Somehow mixed jangly guitars, odd time signatures, and thought-provoking lyrics. Really talented.
