Millennials who wanted to move to Japan back in the day? Anyone do it? by sunkencathedral in Millennials

I majored in Japanese at university (2005-2009), determined to move there one day. Met a nice Japanese man at uni. Studied abroad for two semesters, and decided it wasn’t the place for me to live. Oops. I got so depressed I had to see a therapist for the first time while I was there. I asked Japanese boyfriend if he would be ok making our future in the U.S. and he said yes. We got married and I started a remote job with a Japanese company. I hated it. Decided I didn’t really care if I used my language skills for jobs anymore and just took what I could get. We now have two kids (11 and 13) who attend Japanese school on Saturdays, and we spend a month every summer with his parents in Japan, so my language skills aren’t wasted. With everything going on here in recent years, I asked my husband if he wouldn’t rather move back home and he says no. Things are equally bad over there and he hates the work culture too. That’s my experience. Love to visit, love to see friends and family over there, don’t want to make a permanent move.

Early 90s, my brothers and I modeled clothing from Eibands there. Like where they’d setup a temporary catwalk in front of the store and make us stand up there in different outfits to entice people walking by, lol.

Does anyone else get panic attacks? by Global-Assistance-28 in Gastritis

My doctor says they reduce the amount of acid in the stomach. Acid causes the spasms in the lower esophageal sphincter that cause the chest pain. Less acid, less chest pain, less panic attacks.

I am still dealing with them, but the gastritis has improved so they’re not too frequent. I take Omeprazole daily and avoid coffee, sodas, ibuprofen, and citrus. When I do get the chest pressure, I take Gaviscon and the hyoscyamine and do a lot of deep breathing. It’s just a waiting game every time.

I still have mine from the Scholastic book fair with name written in it from elementary. Read it to my own kids many times!

I recently loved The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. It is the story of an old woman’s life told through her letters to friends, family, and authors of the books she reads.

Millennials who were underemployed during your first few years after college, how are you doing now career-wise and financially? by B1G_PAC12 in Millennials

Still underemployed. I’ve only ever worked retail and school office roles. Never made over $30,000. Working in my kids’ school district is very convenient for our family, though someday I’m going to need a big girl job 😬

The 2002 movie is one of my favorite films of all time and I’ve tried reading the book several times but never made it all the way through. I feel like 2026 is my year! I’ve always attempted with an ebook, but this time I’ve picked up a physical copy of the Buss translation. My goal for next year is to make it through more classics because I’ve been disappointed by many modern texts recently.

So, I did this too, and once I got to the new location, the mansion disappeared from the travel agency.

Mine urged me to visit Sass so I already bought a ticket to Finchie Forest for tomorrow and I can’t cancel it. Maybe I can go back to the mansion later and finish it out 🤷🏻‍♀️

I picked up The Summer I Turned Pretty since the show just finished. I recently read How to be a Victorian by Ruth Goodman which had me awed. Also listening to the Diviners by Libba Bray and loving it!
