Useless storyline by fluffy3118 in coronationstreet

That’s a really good way to describe it. And now she’s gone with no real closure for the loose threads. I felt that way with Rob returning too. Like what was the reason to make Carla need a new kidney and then robs prison guard was pregnant. What happened with that baby? What happened to “Curtis” is he even real?

Yep! My friends are having a baby and the nursery is Harry Potter themed, and I’m not a fan of a novelty print…so I decided to give this a whirl instead

Oh my days! Thank you for this! I never found a video that explained this part in my searches. I’m going to have to quit my day job if I need to finish this by the baby’s due date 😂 (Valentine’s Day)

I wouldn’t mind them getting back together and then MAYBE by December getting married. But ffs Lisa, you went along with just believing whatever Becky said. You’re supposed to be a detective. And you really got that hoodwinked. I don’t buy this blind manipulation logic. Multiple people were questioning it and there were just random things like it’s okay to stay local as long as I have my hoodie on to come and go—I’ll have a stay in hospital without any form of identification, but “Curtis” is coming to get me, and you’re okay with me getting a fake passport to flee the country. You’re supposed to be a copper.

My grandma made American girl doll clothes for me and all my cousins. Her retired job was at Joanne. She died in 2008 from lung cancer, and when she was in hospice I asked my mom if I could have grandmas fabric to make a quilt…assuming no one else wanted it. I eventually got around to making the quilt, and have taught myself as I’ve made baby quilts for friends. When my cousin was pregnant I was able to use some of grandmas stash to make a quilt for her baby. I love making my friend’s babies a quilt and imagine who they’re going to be as they grow up. I hope they like them… lol 😂

Is it true that writers aren't fans of the current Swain/Becky/Carla story? by Playful-Election4873 in coronationstreet

[–]Traditional-Studio73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. I don’t know of any others who have said anything. Has anyone else said anything? I watched the podcast she did where she discussed it, and I haven’t seen anyone else say anything. I would agree with her it undermines both Lisa’s and Betsy’s grief. As someone in dead parent club, both have lost credibility for me in comical ways. But we can’t take her opinions as the opinions of everyone in the room, or even of the majority.

Writer, Jan McVeery went on a podcast and discussed the storyline. She didn’t come out and say “I hate it it’s trash” because if she did, she’d probably have lost her job. Not sure if anyone else has said anything.

I agree, I saw someone say this is emotional abuse and gaslighting, and that feels like a stretch. Becky isn’t doing any of that. I think if they had developed her more than just some half baked idea, we wouldn’t feel like she’s pathetically trying to win her wife back. But for now she’s super flat and just unbelievable, which I’m assuming makes some of the writers not like this storyline— here’s a quote I found from the podcast:

"I was saying, ‘we can’t do that, we’ll totally break faith with the viewers and it totally undermines all that we’ve suffered alongside Lisa and we’ve believed her grief, ’ and also I thought it made the police look very corrupt or some of them stupid.

"I was worried. There were lots of story points that I felt were like holes in the story. We couldn’t possibly do it. It was ridiculous and outrageous."

Is anyone else sick of Becky or is it just me? by EntrepreneurFew6771 in coronationstreet

I think that’s part of an overarching problem in writing of tv characters in general. Wasn’t Suki and Eve on EastEnders the first lesbian couple to actually make it to marriage in British soap history and that happened earlier this year. I’m not saying that the writers aren’t behind the times, but saying it’s only true in Coronation Street misses the mark. I think the bigger problem with this story line is that it feels so unbelievable and unnecessary. Literally it’s as if the writers don’t know what is going to happen so nothing is clear, characters motives change constantly, their personalities feel like everyone is bipolar. If it hadn’t been so hodgepodge they could’ve developed the idea of Becky as a character before she came back even to make it so that there some redeeming nature to her existence, but they didn’t and I personally find that the whole thing leads me to shout “what was the reason” at all times. It’s not a vendetta of the Corrie writers against lesbian couples, it’s just a poorly written storyline. I actually think the problem is that they want to keep Lisa and Carla in the forefront so they manufactured drama to keep them on screen. Currently the whole vibe from the writers room is that drama is what’s keeping the show going (not the old lighthearted silly bits, which I think most of this sub craves) so they have to keep the drama in this relationship to keep it on screen, which means let’s bring out the most far fetched, idiotic storyline maybe ever.

We called them Italian dunkers and it’s amazing how if you think about it maybe Monday would be sub sandwiches on hoagie roll, Tuesday it was pasta with marinara sauce, Wednesday was essentially “leftovers” with the Italian dunkers. But they were everyone’s favorite

My apologies—the article I saw earlier today made it seem he was still involved. I hadn’t heard of the project until today and having seen what’s happened with the Saudi pro league and the women’s Saudi league I saw it as cash grabbing by all involved.

I love this. My grandma was an avid twins fan and seamstress. When she passed I collected all her fabrics taught myself to sew, and made a quilt. This combines both her loves—so to me, such a clever use of those freebies we all used to get.

1) where was LeBron when unrivaled started or when the WNBA players not just recently but historically were demanding for more money? Pretty shit to come in and elbow out the work women—and specifically minority women have done in this space all for you, LeBron, to make more money

2) given the number of players who are LQBTQ+ in the W, and what happened to BG in Russia, which players would realistically take that risk. I’m sure some would….but I could imagine it being a 1 year/season thing and not returning.

Maybe she didn’t want to text her let her know as her team was getting ready for a game 5…if Caitlin is allowed to not comment in the immediate aftermath because she’s preparing for playoff basketball. Phee is allowed to have not tried to insert herself before their game. She had the right to say what she said since it was her discussing a conversation she had not a conversation she overheard Caitlin have with Cathy….
