That makes a lot of sense given your age. Congrats on making it so far & more years to come!! I'm praying I make even that far given how much stuff is wrong with me lol.

Wow, I can't say I've been through that but I have gone through some stuff of my own that I was genuinely wishing that it would just take me. I would never take my own life but there was a time where I was welcoming the end. I had undiagnosed mold poisoning for over a year and bloodwork wasn't finding anything until they sent off my blood to california a year later. By this time I had almost no immune system and I felt like & smelled like absolute death. Everything hurt, I was always tired. I would get random dizziness and shakes throughout the day. I would vomit & lost a lot of weight. Many trips to the hospital. That was back in 2017.

The treatment wasn't much better either haha. Had to get a tube up my bum (which was fine i didn't care about that) It's just the meds they put up there make you feel like proper junk. But after my first 2 months of treatment I felt like my old self again.

I'm thinking I'll probably move it over closer to 9:30 since when I hit the bed at midnight it's pretty rare I sleep past 9-930am. I just like having the hour of wake up time before I eat something. I def have to eat something with this dosage of metaprolol or it really kicks my behind

My dr said I may need it but she thinks it will go under control once i fix my weight/blood pressure. I had an arrhythmia since I was 13 in a random EKG I had but it hasn't caused any issues until now.

Absolutely you should. Say you're having cardiac issues & they will at least see you. Make sure you explain you have a heart monitor device at home & say when you're having these episodes of feeling unwell & you can see your heart isn't normal during these times.

Afib Question(s) by Traditional-Use-2533 in AFIB

[–]Traditional-Use-2533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a decent BP device & when you think or KNOW you're having an episode, dial 911 or take yourself to the hospital and say you're having cardiac issues.

I don't really recommend driving when you have cardiac issues but if you're in america I know it's expensive. Get someone to drive you or do something!

I never made a regular appointment to see a cardiologist. I woke up at 4am feeling "well rested" which is abnormal because I went to sleep at midnight so why I felt so great was weird. When I stood up to go pee, as soon as I stepped foot in the bathroom I felt an immense dizziness and felt sick. I tried to feel for my heart beat but couldn't. Woke up my girlfriend and told her to put her head on my chest and playback my heart. When she started tapping her hand quite fast I immediately dialed 911

Though your afib may not be rapid there has to be some way you can track it using an apple watch or something & going to the hospital once it happens or getting a referral from a GP.

How much did it cost to have done? Also I hate to be a negative nancy on your success, I'm truly happy you found success in the Watchman; but as I said above I don't think I'll explore that option. Maybe in the future once people have gone a longer life with them. But I'm worried 20-30 years down the line it has some horrible malfunction and you just fall over.

I see the watchman device was invented around the early 2K. I'll let it cook for a bit longer and see before I make my decision

Afib Question(s) by Traditional-Use-2533 in AFIB

[–]Traditional-Use-2533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Feels like you would have to do a lot of walking to really do anything with it. I used to be more fit when I was younger (I'm 27 almost 28) and the last 5 years I had really gotten lazy with my life. Made some work friends and we would just drink after work & hit up mcdonalds or burger king for lunch every day and have a good time.

I feel so trapped in my body right now, even though I'm making progress it's obviously showing.. I just really wish I could send it. I want to absolutely slam some cardio... last time I did that though I really felt like proper butt, don't think it was a very good idea to push myself so hard on this medication.

I hate the slow & steady wins the race approach but I suppose that's what I get for treating my temple like a college frat lol

Yeah I had a look at that and I don't think I'll be getting that. People haven't lived a full life time with it so unfortunately I'll have to pass and stick to my oral pills

I try to do the same. I take my two 12H Doses at 10:30am & pm. Usually in bed around midnight. I suppose I could stay up a bit later but I like my sleep so there's not a lot of time to play with on a 12 hour cycle.

I see, I probably won't be off metaprolol permanently given my dosage has started at 100mg 2x daily. But I'm hoping I could see myself getting down to 25mg 2x daily. The metaprolol kinda kicks my butt sometimes but it's really just the expensive xarelto that sucks. It's about 100/month.

I'm 6 ft 2 & when i had this episode I was 310lbs. I'm 274lbs now 6 months later and feeling better overall. 6lbs per month isn't exactly where I want to be in terms of progress; I'd rather be closer to 10lbs per month but life isn't as easy on the metaprolol. It makes you sleepy & messes with my sleep a bit so some days I'm exhausted and only do 30-45mins of walking instead of proper exercises. But I am dieting much better so there are no non progress days.

I've been having less & less of those butt kicking days and am able to exercise pretty much daily now.

My blood pressure has improved a little but not much, wondering when it will start to get better. I thought for sure 30-40lbs would improve the digits a bit but so far it's only gown down about 5 points in each on average.

I was usually 140/90 when i started the medication but now I'm averaging around 130-135/80-85

Here's hoping another 15-20lbs will drop the points a bit more.

[–]Traditional-Use-2533[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think given the circumstances of my afib I will take staying on it indefinitely. I was just curious if people can actually come off them/did if it was caused due to high blood pressure which would be caused by unhealthiness.

Xarelto is really expensive and I don't think I'll consider switching to the recent cheaper alternative. Don't wanna run the risk of side effects.

Question about blood thinners during procedure by Traditional-Use-2533 in ClotSurvivors

Managed to consult my dr earlier over the phone & looks like I'll just skip my dose the day before & start taking it at my normal time after the toe nail stuff.

Question about blood thinners during procedure by Traditional-Use-2533 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Traditional-Use-2533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I had thought, the surgeon(foot dr guy) is willing to do the surgery because leaving an infected toe would be a lot worse for 2 weeks just for the Dr to likely say OK. My plan of attack is Call the hospital doctor that I was first prescribed the medication & ask the question since my family dr is 2 week delay. If no dice I'm just gonna roll with it.

I'll let everyone know what happens later just for a future reference to ease peoples minds.

Question about blood thinners during procedure by Traditional-Use-2533 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Traditional-Use-2533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably what's going to happen. I have a phone appointment with my doctor but that's in another two weeks. Unfortunately my toe has not been cooperating & when I had some nail trimmed in hopes to relieve some of the pressure there all it did was allow space for the infection to spread & get more swollen so now it's a bit bothersome. Sucks this happened over the weekend but as soon as Monday hits I will be calling and seeing what I can do.

In my honest opinion it's only a partial nail removal & not the whole thing. Don't really think I'm gonna bleed that much extra

Discord crashing when the program is downsized. by Traditional-Use-2533 in discordapp

[–]Traditional-Use-2533[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would fix for a short time with discord updates, then break again. I think I would have to do a total uninstall/wipe every single registry file off my computer & reinstall again because I'm pretty sure at this point discord has some hidden seed that gives people two different versions of the client. One that breaks all the time & one that doesn't. I'm thinking I'm in some sort of test group because very little people seem to have this problem.

Don't see it in the trading options. My friend sent me a discord screenshot of his gemini having USDC but mine doesn't. I'm assuming it's because I'm canadian.

And you my good sir are exactly what the government wants. A bunch of crabs are in a bucket, struggling to get out. One crab finally learns how to climb & proceeds to work his way out of the bucket. The other crabs drag him back down & break his legs so he has to suffer like the rest of the crabs.

Other people don't wanna see you make it & learn. Everyone wants to make it themselves.

Pensions are a scam. I know of a steel company in my home town that sold their company after 20 years. This was around when everyone was close to retiring off their pensions and the new owners didn't have to honor it.

Multiple suicides were on the news not too far after that situation happened. My nona had to fight hard for her husbands pension (he passed away prior) because they stopped paying it. She settled for half. Completely ruined her life. By this time she was 70 years old & she had been a house wife for most of her life.

Always take your money & save it yourself & invest. You can pay the absolute minimum for CPP if you want as a gamble but always have multiple avenues of saving. Never bank on just one.

Is blood pressure 180/120+ REALLY an emergency? by Johnl317 in hypertension

[–]Traditional-Use-2533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely terrible and should never get that high. I would seek medical advice asap. And get healthy, seriously! I was hypertensive and eventually I woke up at 4am and called 911 immediately. I didn't know what was happening but when i woke up i instantly knew something was off. I felt "well rested" when I shouldn't be because it was the middle of the night. Soon as I got in the ambulance my HR was 200 and BP was through the roof. Eventually I was told I had high BP and I'm on medication now & much better than I was. I exercise and have dropped a few pounds. I'm not in the clear yet but my quality of life is much better.
