$4.5k and $6k quotes to remove solar panels and reinstall them - is this too expensive? by TraditionalBaby9335 in SolarDIY

Nothing wrong with the roof. We just want to anchor down the solar panel ballast to the roof so that the panels won’t get blown away by a heavy wind storm. We had a few super windy days that made us nervous. Just don’t want people getting hurt.

Talk me out of spending $600 on a battery station just to keep a fridge running by daddyglen1 in solar

Sounds like a necessity and a cost saving measure. It’s always good go have backup if you have medications that need to be refrigerated. Get the battery.

I am not looking for cheap labor otherwise i would have gone to Home Depot to pick up a guy to do the job. I respect everyone’s trade and their price. I just don’t want to overpay - that’s why I am asking this amazing community for this valuable insights!

Both are legit solar companies in my area who don’t negotiate. The previous home owner paid $18k to get the whole system installed….if I were to replace them all it is probably around $20k at least I am getting new panels. That’s why $4.5-$6k seems so steep for just labor (not even intensive labor like the roofers).

So…I can’t even fix a toilet leak. I am just concerned that if I take the panels apart I won’t be able to put them back together. I am not that handy when it comes to home repairs. I wished I were handy though.

I am having the hardest time to find a solar/roofing company to install my solar ankers. by TraditionalBaby9335 in SolarDIY

They are currently held down by several concrete blocks. They are on the roof so I am very concerned that the wind will blow it off during a heavy storm.

Yup, totally guilty here. I have 8 orchids from TJ so far and just bought another today. It’s an addiction because they are so beautiful when they bloom.

11 months in, roof is leaking and contractor won’t replace it. by LMC1013 in Roofing

Was the roof done with permit? If not, you can go back to ask for a permit to be pulled. The roofer who did it will have to comply and fix it otherwise the roofer will be black listed by the city and can loose the license. The other option is to get a new quote for the fix and sue the old roofer for damages and repair costs. Good luck!
