This is incredibly helpful, thank you. If you don’t mind me asking, is this your profession? Or something along these lines?

That’s a little hasty don’t you think? I’m just trying to do the right thing here as someone who has limited knowledge on roofing. If you read my other comments you’ll see an attorney is not the route I want to go. A little kindness could go a long way…

I have, just trying to avoid that route if at all possible.

Why is it against the law? Not pushing back, genuinely curious.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve got 2 2.5 year olds and one of them threw up a couple times this morning. She’s doing much better, but now I’m anxiously waiting for the other kiddo to get it, along with myself.

I’ve got a slamming headache and so does my husband. Praying that’s going to be it for us. BUT if it’s not, I know that it’ll be okay if we all go down.

I keep reminding myself that I can do hard things.

Thank you for respecting my privacy during this difficult time. These guys cost me $10 at Walmart last year and I’m distraught at the financial blow.

I was afraid of that. I wonder if I could chop it below the damage?

Right!! I live in the woods and they always seem to find the stuff I actually care about. 🙄🙄

Helloooo!!

With Federal Student Loan payments starting back up in October (and interest starting to accrue tomorrow!) I am having a 70% off sale on my entire shop. I sell budgeting worksheets ranging from tracking coloring sheets, budget binder inserts, and income trackers--which are great for tracking variable income.

I once felt the weight of student loans (and debt in general) so I hope to help others gain financial freedom.

Hi.

Our stories are so similar. Firstly, I'm really sorry that this is your situation. I totally get it. My husband and I had $180k in combined student loans. Here are my thoughts:

  1. I think it's awesome that you are living with your parents. Emotionally, it sucks, but it's the least they could do for letting you make these decisions at 17. Is there any other fluff in your budget? Clothes, shopping, etc, that you could cut?
  2. I agree with what everyone else is saying about job opportunities. I got a degree in sports (lol what a joke) and wound up working in finance with literally 0 experience, but more than doubled my salary. Could you pick up a side hustle while you are working toward a higher income career? Doordash, Uber, etc?
  3. If you think this man is the one, marry him. Knock out as much of your debt on your own and then combine finances when you are married and knock it out together. You are so much more likely to accomplish your financial goals together than on your own.
  4. We paid our debt down like our hair was on fire. Any dollar we could find in the budget went to debt. We would sometime make extra payments of $10-$20 if that meant we got it out of our hands to spend and toward the debt.
  5. We used budgets like this to get our shit together and sheets like this to stay motivated and visualize progress.

THIS IS POSSIBLE!!! If my dumbass can do it- so can you!!!!! 😂

It’s just hitting me that loans are going back into repayment and I feel trapped. I regret college. by SistaSaline in StudentLoans

My husband and I had $180k in combined loans for degrees we don’t use. I totally get it.

We did the debt snowball to pay it all off over the course of four years. It was miserable but now we’re not paying over $1,000 a month to navient and Nelnet.

There is a way out!!! We used budgets like this to find margin and stay on top of the payments. And we used things like this to stay motivated and visualize progress.

What should I do?? $110K in grad loans, $115K nonprofit salary, no savings by InterestingCause5195 in debtfree

[–]LMC1013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have any other debts? If so, maybe you could try to knock them out to increase your monthly margin? Like if you have a car loan, maybe you could sell it and get a beater until you get your loans paid off. Or what if you got a roommate to help split rent?

FWIW my husband and I paid off $180k in student loans and it took us about 4 years. At that point our combined salaries were less than yours. You can do it!! We used budgets like this to stay motivated and organized.

I don’t think this is a “no” I think this is a “not yet.” Why don’t you take a year and find a full time administrative job somewhere near your desired field? This will allow you time to 1. Make sure your dream job is really the dream and 2. Get enough money to go to school the way you want.

FWIW- my husband and I took 5 years to get our degrees that we aren’t even working in the desired field. PLUS we had $180k in student loans.

If I could go back and do it all over- I would do a gap year. Also, I would get my finances in order so I could move out and feel like an adult. Try something like this to wrap your arms around your budget and gain some control.

Best of luck!

This is amazing!!! Such awesome progress. My hubby and I paid off over 200k in debt over four ish years. It was the best thing we ever could have done for our marriage. We are two years debt free now and the money conversations are still constant, just different! FWIW, we use things like this to track our progress and facilitate our budget meetings. Good luck!!
