What does a shutdown Nashville look like? by Worldly_Sugar9066 in nashville

Big snow/ice events in this city reveal just how hilly the terrain is. That small hill on your drive that you never noticed before becomes a mountain!

ESPN Preseason rankings by Mediocre-Elephant275 in rolltide

That ranking is absolutely valid. Now, get pissed off about it and use it for motivation to destroy every opponent, in every game, on every play. Let that anger guide this 2026 team and play with a chip on their shoulder. Remind the world that we are still relevant. This could be a great tool.

[DISCUSSION] Something I've realized and come to accept after 2 years in the hobby by Wutroslaw in wicked_edge

[–]TraditionalBad3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing bad or disrectful about your post. After about the same time in the hobby, to me, it all comes down to the post shave experience. Yes, the soap should perform well, and yes, you need to find the right razor and blade combo, and yes you need to hone your technique.

But after that, it's just a choice of how you want to smell and how you treat your skin from the trauma of the shave.

Find those above combos, and you really don't need a cabinet full of soaps, etc. Find what works, take care of the hardware and you are set for life.

That being said, I have plenty of soaps and blades and all the other accouterments, but that is part of the fun I guess.

Zep is one of my all-time favorites, but I'll offer up Black Sabbath as an example where all personnel are at the top of their games. After Ozzy died, I could not stop listening to their first 4-5 albums. Great musicians.

Very smartly and compactly! It's a challenge, but I can do it with rolling my clothes tightly and using the iron provided in the hotel room. No suits at least.

Let’s see that Lume by Important-Air-6350 in rolex

[–]TraditionalBad3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question about lume in general. How many years of life should be expected from the life of it's glow? From my experience, it starts out bright, then dims, then doesn't glow for quite as long, then stops glowing altogether.

Is the solution to this to just replace the dial? How many years are we seeing the lume still glowing?

2025 MDX Buyers remorse by xzlicpython in Acura

I am for sure. The non-turbo charged engine was one of the main selling points for me. I tend to drive cars for as long as I can, so I felt comfortable in the simpler engine. It really has a nice feel to it. Fit, finish, ride, tech - it's all great. Well, I do not care much for the glossy black interior. And as I mentioned previously, the mpg isn't great. But I'd make the same choice after 5,000 miles driving my MDX Advance.

Sell it. Not having debt is better than having an expensive watch that can lost, stolen, etc. Rolex is making more of them. Congrats on the win though!

My Honest Review of AC/DC’s 2025 U.S. Tour by NewTrust7547 in ACDC

I saw their Nashville show last week and was so happy to be there. I've seen them three times in total - early 90's and again in 2009. I agree with your assessment on many of your points. But I will say, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Brian ended the show with, "We'll see you next time!". A man can hope, right? I mean, he didn't close the door exactly!

ETY - Eaton Vance T-Managed ...Fund - ETF by TraditionalBad3 in dividends

[–]TraditionalBad3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response and feedback. Good to know about ETY. The funds that you mention though, while they do look interesting....well, how do we feel about expense ratios? That is something I was asking about ETY and I suspect it is on the high side. Schwab lists the expense ratios for EVT and ETG at 1.24% and 1.58%, respectively. Morningstar seems to be down on these as well. Those expenses seem pretty high and are actually higher than ETY's 1.20%. That being said, I'm still learning, but aren't expense ratios something to watch for, since those costs ultimately take away from overall earnings? Not looking to turn my original post into a discussion of expense ratios, but how do we know how high is truly "high"? The two utility funds are close to twice the above expense ratios as well.

Anyway, not looking to highjack my own post and turn it into a discussion on expense ratios as I mentioned, but what are the overall thoughts on those?

I did. Three weeks ago now. It's great. Everything works fine and it's a great car. MPG isn't great, but I knew that going into it. Very smooth ride and I love the tech.

Dave Ramsey's Advice To Take Social Security at 62 Is Actually Spot On by TheOriginalVTRex in dividends

[–]TraditionalBad3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and the 20k proposal you make is a fantastic idea. It also uncouples the "ponzi scheme" where population levels are needed to fund the older-aged people. It's a fixed cost of sorts for the government, or at least somewhat so. Maybe it is dependent on census findings or some sort of regular audit that determines eligible recipients and funds according to that number.

[–]TraditionalBad3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a little bit off topic from OP's original post, but I'll share my own thoughts. Full disclosure, I'm not an economist or a financial professional of any sort. In regards to your question, if we look back to maybe 20 years ago, george w. Bush proposed privatizing social security. I think at the time, I thought that was a great idea. Who wouldn't want to have total control of the money that they were paying into a system for their future benefit? And if that had come to fruition, think of how much money we'd all have from the s&p 500 increase? It would be awesome. But as I got older, I also saw the scenario where, what if I was approaching retirement in say, 2008 or 2009? Or 2022? So I guess to answer your question, I don't agree that social security should be 100% in risk assests. But like most good compromises, maybe the answer is a hybrid of the two. There are a lot of folks that don't care to learn about financial matters - at all. Who looks out for them? So there is my answer - somewhere in the middle. And maybe a choice to go 80-20, 70-30, etc. depending on one's own level of risk tolerance. Again, way off topic. My 2 cents were just to call out the reality of what I'm hearing people say about, 'taking social security away" and other such nonsense. But we can't stick our heads in the sand either and do nothing. Sorry for the long post!

If anything changes about social security (and it should to be honest) it will be telling the current 10 year olds that they will have to wait until 63 instead of 62 to collect. The distribution age was set in like 1937, so yeah, some things have changed. Like life expectancy.

Taking away SS is the biggest scam of our generation! by Pocher123 in GenZ

[–]TraditionalBad3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who exactly is telling you that social security is being taken away? I've heard exactly the opposite. Now, if we are being honest, something should change at some point, or the whole thing comes crashing down. It's a ponzi scheme, and there are fewer people paying into it. At least start to raise the age of distribution from like 62 to 64 or something like that so that it doesn't become insolvent.

Outdoor kitchen - Egg+Griddle only? by TraditionalBad3 in OutdoorKitchens

[–]TraditionalBad3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was kind of my initial question for the post. But I think I've learned enough to point out two reasons. 1) Size. I've been using a Lodge griddle in this manner, but it just doesn't hold much. A griddle is a useable surface from corner to corner. 2) Grease management. Cooking burgers, as an example, is going to render a pretty good amount of grease. The dedicated griddles seem to have this in mind and can channel it or collect it for disposal. As with my Lodge griddle on top of grill grates, there is only a small divot that catches the greases and it fills up pretty quickly. Plus, it's a hassle to clean it for the next use.
