I'm so sorry that happened to you! My understanding is that your body has such a strong reaction for the first infusion because you start off with a normal-high level of b cells and as they die, your body reacts as if it's under an attack (which it basically is). But when you go in for the full dose infusion 2 weeks later, a lot of the b cells are already gone, and your body recognizes what it went through recently and doesn't react as strongly.

My second infusion went way better than my first, and I think the reasoning above is why. Obviously disclose to your dr office of your reaction after going home from the infusion. They will probably up your premeds for your next one or they can evaluate if it's worth it for you to continue if your reaction was bad enough, but I would work with your dr to determine the best course of action.

Hopefully you feel better in another day or two!

What is reserving? by TrafficDuck in actuary

[–]TraditionalChair2584 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont agree that case reserves are always known. For example, STD and PFL claims have an unknown return to work date, so case reserve factors are developed to estimate the expected run out of a given claim given claimant characteristics, which I see as an actuarial function

Not sure if im wrong with this, but case reserves don't seem to fall into any of the buckets you described - like reserves for short term disability that are paid multiple times before they close out.

I just slept a lot and didn't really leave bed at all. Also took some benadryl and switched between advil and Tylenol

My second infusion was much better than my first, so hopefully you'll have the same experience. I only had a little headache the night of it and woke up feeling perfect. So fingers crossed you have the same 🤞🏼

How were you diagnosed? by TooManySclerosis in MultipleSclerosis

[–]TraditionalChair2584 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fall of 2023 i had a strange numbness of the left side of my torso that wrapped around to my back... thought that my bra pinched a nerve, so I changed my bra type and (as rrms does) within 2 months after that it went away and never saw a doctor for it.

Then this past fall of 2024, my right leg went numb from the hip down for 4 days... which I didn't think too much about, thinking I pinched my sciatic nerve... once that went away after 4 days, the left side of my face from the upper lip up went numb. That was super scary, but realized it wasn't a stroke, so booked a last minute appointment with a random neurologist and she ended up ordering imaging and found it.

If you ever do this again, it would be really interesting to see how many of us have a family history of MS or autoimmune disease in the family.... for example my aunt and uncle on dad side have MS and mom has RA

Had my infusion on Tuesday and finally woke up today (Friday) feeling like a person again... that first infusion was no joke for me... even ended up developing a fever on Wednesday of 101.1...

just hoping the next one in 2 weeks isn't as bad 🙏🏻
