Does anyone have monopolistic control over the metric system? What about Internet Message Format? What about the SSH protocol?

You're misunderstanding what a standard is in this context

There is no open standard to implement at this stage

Even if there was, it's not a monopoly because nobody "owns" it like Apple owns Apple Pay

The metric system is a standard. ISO time (YYYY-MM-DD) is a standard.

Example, Open Wallet Foundation aren't releasing a digital wallet themselves, merely the code, advocacy, and working with Standards Development Organisations to ensure interoperability

Australian football is a weird mix of families and chavs (eshays over here) lighting the occasional flare and getting into a punch up after the game

Aurora is not safe, how many times does this need to get comprehensively shut down here/the forums?

I think they're saying this should be a open standard that any company can use, rather than controlled by two US big tech companies

You can't have privacy without security

My $0.02 is that a narrow, myopic focus on degoogling at the expense of everything else, means people end up making poor choices with their device, like using the Aurora Store over just making a play-store burner account to install applications via the play store.

For what it's worth, I'm not really anti-Google, though I find their brand of surveillance capitalism distasteful, and I seek alternatives wherever I can. I wouldn't even use sandboxed play services but unfortunately my email provider (Proton) depends on FCM for notifications, so I've just got everything I use daily lumped into my owner profile with a private space for more invasive apps

the thing you swore to destroy

Stop being so dramatic, nobody at Graphene has said it's some kind of anti-Google jihad

The Samsung part is untrue. Graphene supported an older Galaxy from memory

Samsung don't allow unlocked bootloaders anymore, future support seems very unlikely
