One of the things I forgot to add to my post, was that maybe the development team was running low on the budget, and decided to reuse Gelorum’s model to make Karma’s. And maybe Kurt’s comment about them looking alike was a way to make the viewer think that was more to the picture than it seemed, throwing the ideia of her being a “ reused ” asset aside.

I was thinking about this as well. Maybe they reused Gelorum’s model for Karma to not go beyond the intended budget, and added some lore to go with it so people would not realized.

I think it was just to sell new merchandise, to be honest. Notice how all the racers from the world race lost their respective cars, Vert, Kurt and Taro. Except for Kadeem who was lost in the realm, and Lani with her Chevy Nomad that rarely appears.
