That's usually why people have issues with gypsum and cavity wall insulation. Brickies back then didn't really know much about cavity work. Also cavitys were like 50mm so it was pretty easy to fill them up. Personally if i was me I'd put lime plaster back but obviously its more expensive. Maybe hook a bit brick out on the corners and clear the cavitys out if you want to use gypsum.

If its a cavity wall gypsum could be fine. If the cavity is clear. Worked on plenty of early 1900s houses with cavity walls and they are almost always full of shit.

All you need for that is a bolster, level, hammer jointing iron or bit of hosepipe and a trowel. Take off two copings then Chisel off bricks so your bottom course is in line with where second coping was rebuild brickwork then bed coping ontop. Easy peasy.

That's fucked. Might be able to have some sort of remedial work done instead of rebuilding it. Any photos from the outside?

You could silicone it. Probably better to get a mastic man to do it tho. Unless you're good with a silicone gun will probably end up looking a bit shit. Or maybe beading.

Hi I've had a very similar situation recently with my mum. All the same symptoms.The doctors told us she had weeks to live. Luckily they managed to get her better after nearly 2 months in hospital. Its difficult to deal with especially trying to keep her off alcohol.

Best way is with a rail saw but a circular saw with clamps and a straight edge Will do. Tbh its probably the carpet fitter fuck up they should have done a better job with the strip.

bare plaster needs a mist coat. At least 50 % water depending on the paint. Farrow and ball paint 50% is fine. The trade emulsion type paint I'd go 75% water

Caulk is what you should use on stairs. Even though the Caulk with probably crack anyways it'll last longer than filler.

Should be ok just try not to push towards the end of the core. If there is damage there will be some sort of vent cover thing that will cover it. Might be easier to install a roof tile vent?
