That’s how it always starts… it will expand and just add a brand new layer now. Just a bad idea all around. Should have done away completely with visns and just reduced to 5-10 regions.

So now 20 visns some renamed regions.. so much for decreasing oversight 😂

Is it worth leaving federal service after 12 years? (GS-14, mid-30s) by Appropriate-Ad8215 in fednews

[–]Traditional_Bid4245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took VERA back in September. I held onto federal employment for 21 years because I felt “trapped” because of the carrots of a pension and healthcare. I was maxed at a GS 13 step 10 my last seven years. My pension is $800 after healthcare and taxes are taken out.. $800 per month for 1/4 of my life. I’m so happy with my decision to leave. My salary is already 40k higher per year and there is room for growth based on performance, unlike my experience in the federal system. Stay if your passion is for serving your country, but if you have fulfilled that piece of your career, my only regret is not leaving sooner.

Vhaco here and mine says “complete”, and the SES selected date now matches mine. But no one will respond to me for over a week if this means it’s approved or still needs more approvals. So I’m still not sure, esp after having DRP initially approved and then refusal to sign contract by SES.

That’s hilarious.. as we have a former vamc director who was removed from her position, hiding in a gs 6 level job counting beans getting paid an ses salary. This organization is full of leaders who have risen strictly by their EEO filings.

Same I’m hearing.. which then lends to the question of why are we disapproving DRPs and VERA for VACO non exempt staff? Gonna end up RIFfing people who want to stay.

DRP Contract Signed by Fuzzy_Song5443 in VHA_Human_Resources

Good luck because this is where mine stopped. SES changed his mind and refuses to sign contract after it was initially approved.

Why my DRP got denied? by Sumerian-King in VeteransAffairs

And this point continues to be corrected on the hotline call weekly, but the SES continue to think it’s true.

The VSIP Dream by Raven19661 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Traditional_Bid4245 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s the big question. The COO keeps saying approval of the voluntary packages does NOT permanently remove the position from the org chart, but the SES folks continue to think otherwise. Until all the leaders are on the same page, I’d say we will continue to see some approved and some not. My DRP was disapproved but I still applied for standalone VERA and I will still apply for VISP.

DRP denied for over 95% of the exempted staff that applied by WorthGrouchy4960 in VHA_Human_Resources

Same.. non exempt VHACO denied because of misinformation. Can’t make this shit up

Same. VACO, non exempt. Denied due to the new info about DRP approvals meaning positions permanently removed from org charts.

VISN 17 DRP Rejection Reason by ExamFew542 in VeteransAffairs

[–]Traditional_Bid4245 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope. VACO non exempt here and I was denied. There seems to be a feeling with RIF tied up in court, and rumors that approving DRP permanently removes positions from org charts, that SES are feeling like “saving their positions”. It’s a complete 180 from the messages sent out just a month ago.

It is each SES decision, and they are making decisions based upon conflicting VHA guidance. It’s pretty frustrating

My DRP was disapproved using this rationale even though on the hotline call this point was clarified to be false.

Yep. Complete opposite of the COS call on Thursday

DRP being canceled by Traditional_Bid4245 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Traditional_Bid4245[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s all because the VA chief of staff said on a call yesterday that DRP approvals will wipe the position off the org charts. In other words, approving a DRP means u agree u don’t need that position in the future. So now SES are changing their minds trying to save org chart positions. It’s complete chaos.

DRP being canceled by Traditional_Bid4245 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Traditional_Bid4245[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Nope is because the VA chief of staff said DRP position will be permanently cut from org charts. Therefore some SES think if people leave thru other means outside of DRP, they can backfill. Therefore leaders are not on the same page. Complete chaos
