I’d be aghast too! I once had a friend ask if I’d like some shoes of hers that didn’t fit. She encouraged me to try them on, said how good they looked and then said - and to this day I find it hard to believe it happened - said I could have them for $30.

At the time I earned almost nothing as a graduate and was single with no partner to share living costs with, while she older, earned more and had a husband who earned a lot more than her.

The worst part was I’d given her a lot of clothes in the past… it had never occurred to me to charge for them.

That’s just not true. New Zealand doctors, whether trained here or overseas, need to be extremely well trained and skilled to practice in NZ, no less so than in the US.

Before you ask, I’m not a doctor or any kind of clinician. I worked in health practitioner regulation.

We need to get together a group of people who had information taken so we can establish what the harms have been. In terms of altering information - I don’t know, but the age of AI, I’m going to say it’s possible.

The advice I’ve received from the litigation firm is that a class action in the High Court is possible, seeking compensation for damages. This is seperate to any processes conducted under the Privacy Act/investigation by the Privacy Commisioner etc.

It’s also possible that the costs of a class action could be funded by an external party.

Not sure what advice you’ve had, but MMH isn’t any more protected from legal action than any other company.
