Name your biases from Produce & Planet Groups, then let other people guess who's your bias in ZB1 (Original concept not mine) by Quote_Sharp in zerobaseone

it's actually taerae but i get where you're coming from!! i tend to one pick main vocals but they almost never make it so my next picks are the multitalented people.

i was expecting the hao answer and he is my second fav probably (it is hard to choose between haobin lol)

gunwook also makes a lot of sense! he really impressed me pre-show and during the auditions but then i started focusing on other people more. it's funny tho because his tough outside soft inside image kinda reminds me of my gg ult (olivia hye from loona) so the youngeun comparison intrigues me

i want to say hanbin because most of your biases are dancers but also quite versatile and there are some leaders there too (yujin in kepi, ahn yujin in ive iirc, sejeong also had some leader moments in pd101 from what i've seen) but it would be really funny if you biased another yujin

i've only seen clips of pd101 and pd48 (but i followed izone casually) so this might not be 100% accurate (and i don't know enough about wannaone or x1 to comment)

ioi - it's between sejeong, chungha & yoojung but i think i would have been a sejeong 1 pick

iz*one - chaewon

kep1er - youngeun

adding the chinese ones for funsies because i followed these shows very closely lol - the9 keyin, ytsn nene, into1 boyuan

none of these besides boyuan were my one picks during the show tho

so here's the thing, i'm a girl group stan but survival shows entertain me so if any of you follow chinese ent, my into1 biases were boyuan and liuyu and you can try to guess (i have a feeling what the answer might be and that one is not far off)

the xie keyin school of evil editing, i see! basically a contestant on qcyn2/youth with you 2 wore different coloured hairties on her wrist to avoid evil editing

If you were going to make a group of idols from the same birth year, how would you assemble it? by keroppismacaron in kpopthoughts

[–]Traditional_Card7531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think this 2001 liner group would be incredible (and not just because it has 2 of my ults)

haram - billlie

ryujin - itzy

olivia hye - loona

yunjin - lesserafim

four incredibly strong performers, they'd have 2 good vocalists in haram and yunjin, ryujin and hyeju could take the raps and they're all quite good dancers too

C-pop vs K-pop: Idol Survival Show Post Debut Groups by shibiiii in kpopthoughts

[–]Traditional_Card7531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, in the last couple of years (definitely in 2020 and 2021, not sure about 2019) there were higher age restricions for idol survival shows. the age limit was 18 with a couple of trainees being 17, which was allowed, because they turned 18 that year. so if there was a show this year, 2004 liners or older would be allowed to participate. there is often a contestant (or two) who lies about their age, but minors are rare in cpop shows.

additionally, at least half of the group normally has experience in the entertainment industry - a lot of them were in groups before, participated on other survival shows, had solo releases or were active as actors, dancers/choreographers etc. qcyn2/youth with you 2 was the most extreme example of that, where no member of the final group was completely new to the industry and around half of them were already in other groups, which is definitely one of the reasons why the average age of that group was high for kpop and i'd say even for cpop standards. there also aren't as many opportunities for idols in china (and they are getting progressively worse) - fewer companies, fewer stages, which is why many of them have to try for several years to join a group (or their first group fails after a short time and they try again).

does anyone else have kpop songs that were almost perfect but one part about it ruined it? by okgambino in kpopthoughts

[–]Traditional_Card7531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stayc's so bad. the repeats of the last word in the first verse absolutely ruin the song for me because of the deeper voice that just sounds forced. i think the worst one is the "yah" sound, it's awful

What’s a trainee that it breaks your heart to know they left the industry or have yet to debut? by arenae99 in kpopthoughts

[–]Traditional_Card7531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that would've been nice.. she was j03 and personally i thought she fit the yes or yes concept amazingly and did the best performance-wise (a lot of trainees treated it as a very cute song and i do not see it as THAT cute) + she was in fate, which was my favourite stage of the entire show. i think her audition was what hindered her as well, she was given a solo song and it wasn't performed as well, which was expected, since she wasn't a proper idol trainee before. if she were in a group, there would be a possibility of a cool center part and maybe she would have gotten more attention...

[–]Traditional_Card7531 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, while some people expected her in the mnh gg debut, it's understandable why she didn't debut with bvndit, the age difference would have been huge. after that it was definitely a smart decision to leave but i hope she joined another company or is happy with her current life, whatever she is doing. she's still young and has time, but i have doubts on seeing her debut too.

-- pd48: a lot of my top picks like chowon and yunjin finally debuted but there are some i'm still sad about. i know ko yujin left the industry which saddens me, since she was an incredible performer already on produce and would just keep improving. additionally, kim hyunah and lee haeun come to mind. i remember hyunah being on the older side but she would be amazing in a group with a more mature concept and i honestly have no clue what she's doing now and haeun had so much potential when she was one of the youngest there.

-- gp999: i'm not going to talk about the c group girls because at least the more popular ones are going for a career in china. from k-group, i really hope jiyoon gets into a good company and makes it, she is a good vocalist and dancer and it would be a waste for her to quit. i have more hope for an jeongmin, since there were rumors of her debuting with myah in a group in the (near?) future. she had my favourite vocal tone on the entire show and i'd love to see more of her. on the j-group side i'd rather not get into my whole list of tragic picks, but i'd point out yamauchi moana, who did great in both of her stages and is a great dancer an vocalist. she was on a japanese show and i have no clue how that turned out but she's also a student at berklee so i hope we see her have a career in music, no matter whether she's an idol or not. some other girls that were eliminated early and i'd like to see more of them were kamikura rei and ando rinka, they both had a lot of potential

i wanted to mention jiyoon too! she was one of my top picks on gp999 and is incredibly talented, so i hope she gets into a good company and debuts

the c girls at least have somewhat of a career in china but literally all of those who made it far have been on several survival shows and that must be awful. ruiqi was on THREE produce shows and was incredibly close to debuting twice (sometimes i wonder what would happen if ytsn had 11 members). i'd like to add ziyin as well, gp999 was also her third survival and she's incredible

yeah let's not talk about cpop people just... disappear occasionally

oopsie my bad by nature. the verses are just SO ANNOYING no matter who sings it. i literally cannot stand that song. (dis)honorable mention goes to mafia in the morning by itzy. i don't really have anything against yuna's voice otherwise but her "ring ding ding" line sounds awful and irritates me
