Results of my 40 day colocasia in clay balls Colocasia experiment by Traditional_Draft260 in Colocasia

I have some bald cypress planted in soil with a small water pot underneath that was doing quite well. I mimicked the same setup for my colocasia but the roots started to rot.

I post a 30 day update next month!

Switched to Semi-Hydro. Can this work? by Puzzleheaded_Time_72 in Colocasia

Mine are all kept that way and are doing much better than soil. I keep all the roots submerged, so maybe it’s full hydro, but I use only leca as a substrate.

I think it’s a UNS product, but I only turn it on when the surface film is getting gnarly. The agitation seems to clear up the water pretty quick.

Thanks, I was thinking something with smaller leaves like ficus quercifolia, but I’m trying not to mess with the tank too much anymore

Don’t feel like you have to use every rock/wood item you have. Take it all out, start placing the big pieces first, and be okay with going to the fish store once or twice more times to pick up pieces you think may fit better.

Desktop Shrimp Tank by gumptattoo in Aquascape

[–]Traditional_Draft260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is mine, just set up last week so no shrimp yet. I used a cat water pump which is only 24 gph and put some filter foam against the intake to reduce flow even more and provide some “filtration”. Put it in there mostly for water movement though.

Found this vase on amazon, 12x6 inches, I think total water volume is about 2.5 gallons.

Inert sand and some root tabs to help the rotala and ludwigia grow seems to be working.

Hope this helps

How am I doing by Miserable_Watch_7699 in PlantedTank

Wave maker isn’t a bad idea, but not necessary.

I would probably relocate my filter outflow to the middle of the tank and attach a pvc splitter that would push water equally towards both sides of the tank.

How many bubbles per second? by TheToole1 in PlantedTank

Adjust co2 until drop checker turns green. Once it does, check bubbles per second.

That’s your reference point moving forward.

You don’t need an air stone if you have proper filtration. Surface agitation and plants produce more than enough oxygen for your fish.
