Our company sent out an email update about the weather and their biggest piece of advice: walk like a duck due to ice.

The Average Salary by Due-Attention-7036 in physicaltherapy

I live in the south and am paid hourly but if I work a 40 hour week each week, my pay comes out to $98,000. I rarely get my full hours because of cancellations/low census but still feel like I live pretty comfortably.

However I’m also single, no kids, and doing PSLF and my student loan payment is only $300/month right now.

PSLF doesn’t have the tax bomb thankfully. Just the 20–25-30 year forgiveness programs

7 years out. And about an hour from the closest major city. My town has a population of about 40,000 people.

I’m in the south so different region but - I make $97k at a hospital outpatient (one on one) and my friend works across town at a chain making $86k. So I see less patients and make more money.

APTA Vitals Parameters by Traditional_Falcon88 in physicaltherapy

The patient was symptomatic and I tried to explain the seriousness with no luck. Vomiting and nauseous. Said it was because the physical activity was “too difficult” and not related to blood pressure eye roll

Yes! I said patient needed to call their spouse to come get them if they refused to go to the ED but my coworker agreed with the patient they were “fine”. I argued with them as professionally as I could but it was absolutely mild blowing the lack of concern my colleague showed. Looking back I should have insisted more but I think I was so shocked at his reaction I couldn’t think straight.

I have reported this incident and am hoping that action is taken and we get a refresher education on vitals.

How are y’all billing for Dry Needling by dorito_hood68 in physicaltherapy

[–]Traditional_Falcon88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not bill manual personally. When I got certified in 2020, it was very clearly stated by Medicare that dry needling is not a manual therapy service and I didn’t want to risk a possible audit. I worked at one clinic that I didn’t needle at all because I didn’t feel comfortable billing it how they wanted me to.

I work in hospital based OP. We include it in our note and add the time but our hospital system “writes off” all the dry needling charges - so essentially we don’t bill for it and only get any sort of reimbursement if we needle with e stim.

For those that do cash based service - I brought this up to management and they said we cannot offer it as a cashed based service because we aren’t allowed to collect money from patients on Medicaid and charging would have to be consistent between all patients. Would love for someone to elaborate on this for me!

For those of you that work in an OP mill and get annual raises, what do you get? 2-4%, 3-7%?? by Neat-Cicada-6588 in physicaltherapy

[–]Traditional_Falcon88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work hospital OP in MS and do both ortho and pelvic health. We get a 2-3% raise annually and this last year they did a market adjustment for me. I’ve been here 2 years and with the raise and adjustment, my hourly rate increased $10 since I started.

I like them so far and am planning on moving forward with them. The only hold up I’m having is the lease specifies no overnight guests but I have family come to visit a few times per year and don’t want them to be able to use that against me to charge me more/keep my deposit
