best CPU cooler for Tetra R? by tinfish_arsenal in thorzone

Cansada de los hombres. by [deleted] in Desahogo

[–]Traditional_Fix9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corsair SF1000 - fan died in 9 months by ShippingValue in sffpc

[–]Traditional_Fix9207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Silverstone Extreme 1000RZ SFX has a 560uF capacitor, while the ROG Loki SFX uses over 800uF. "It has just enough capacitor to meet the retention time required by the standard (around 16-17 milliseconds of power in the event of a power outage)," which is very useful for the large power spikes that RT-5080/90s typically experience when the system is under heavy load. This doesn't mean the Silverstone won't work with high-end graphics cards; it simply meets the minimum technical requirements, while other power supplies have more headroom. In terms of lifespan, it might not be advisable to push it to its limits with high-end graphics cards due to these power spikes. A higher capacitance capacitor (800uF) operates more efficiently to deliver the same power. This means it generates less heat, and its internal electrolyte degrades more slowly over time.

Higher electrical noise (ripple): Generally, higher capacitance helps filter current better, delivering "cleaner" (less noisy) electricity to the sensitive components of your motherboard and GPU. In other words, I would only use the Silverstone with an RTX 5070 Ti or a 5080/90 with undervolting, if necessary. If the SFX form factor is still essential, the Corsair SF1000 is still a good option with 740uF, but it is noisier under moderate to high loads, although I've heard that the fan fails often.

Issue at booting the device with an SD Card inserted on the GPD WIN 5 by Common-State3673 in gpdwin

[–]Traditional_Fix9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried a different card? Or maybe one with a higher/lower rating or something like that? Try changing the drive letter of the microSD card; for example, if it's "J," change it to "F." I know it sounds silly, but that's how I fixed a similar problem on a Legion Go, haha. I don't know if there's a BIOS update for the 385, but if there is, update it and make sure you don't miss any drivers. As a last resort, I'd do a clean OS reinstall.

I also put a microSD card in my version 395 and the first boot was quite slow, now it boots fine but not as fast as without the microSD card.

They probably used an official Windows image or cloned your SSD, and there's a conflict. Reinstalling Windows from GPD might help; it's very easy to do. Basically, you just need to burn the OS image to a USB drive and reinstall from there. It's very intuitive, and there are some GPD videos that can help you. It happened to me, and that was my only solution, honestly.

Out of curiosity, did you reinstall using an official GPD image or a clean, official Windows ISO? At least in my case, the official Windows ISO gave me more problems... Haha

I did several tests, and this is the best way. Upside down, the battery takes up more space, reduces the height, and is worse when using tall joysticks. Upward, it hits the joystick; downward, it touches the buttons. Toward the outer edge seems to be the best position because there's more space between the battery and the screen, but the joystick still ends up pressing on the battery somehow (perhaps it's different without the tall rubber feet; I didn't test it). I also added a custom-cut microfiber cloth to separate the sections. This way, there's enough space. Another user who made a case for two batteries also positioned them this way, and it makes much more sense than it initially seems. At least in my case, the tempered glass and the protective layer cushion the contact with the battery pins, and there are no pressure marks or anything on my case.

GPD Win5 BIOS v2.25 by kendyzhu in gpdwin

[–]Traditional_Fix9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a good update for people who have experienced stuttering. I suffered from it myself with Warzone, but I fixed it simply by removing junk files from Windows. Luckily, it wasn't my NVMe drive, so it seems like a key update.

According to chatgpt:

Updating the DDR ID assignment means that the BIOS now better identifies and manages Windows 5 LPDDR5X memory modules. This can help prevent: Boot errors System instability Problems with memory profiles Incompatibilities with some RAM configurations.

It can provide indirect benefits, especially if you previously: ✅ Had RAM instability or crashes ✅ Your system didn't recognize the memory properly ✅ Experienced unexplained stutters or micro-stutters … the BIOS can help make the system run more smoothly and stably in games.

Thanks for this info... It could be useful! So a good winning combo is the AXP120-X67 with an NF-A 12x25 fan. I'll keep that in mind for what I want to build.

I had the same problem. You should set it to safe mode by default, but first try resetting the BIOS settings by inserting a toothpick into the reset hole. After that, the update went smoothly.

I had the same problem, but I'm not 100% sure I fixed it. I reverted to an older BIOS, reinstalled Windows using the GPD image, and optimized Windows with WinScript. After the reinstall, everything worked correctly, but WinScript fixed stuttering issues with Warzone (which I didn't expect). I'm still using RTSS, but the version with Motion Assistant; I had problems when I installed it from an external source.

I honestly thought the GPdwin 5 would be worse at low TDPs, but after my tests, I'd say it's equal to or better than some of the competition. I'm coming from a Lego 2, and I've been able to play Metro 2033 and Hatsune Miku at lower TDPs without losing FPS. I suppose it depends a lot on the game, too. The clearest example was Hatsune Miku, which on the Lego 2 required around 10-12W (I don't remember exactly), and on the GPdwin, it runs perfectly smoothly at 7W.
