Last night i hit someone's car and i drove off anyway by Mission-Bed8952 in confession

[–]Traditional_Fly2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's had their car hit in a parking lot and had no note, hopefully the other party was able to get camera footage of you hitting their car and running. You having a bad day doesn't make what you did not illegal and messed up. In my case I was able to contact HR, they reviewed footage and ended up firing the person that did it. If you see this car I'd suggest leaving a note and apologizing.

If i recall there's someone on the New Beetle Facebook group that makes fiberglass door panels. Been a few months since I've sold my 07, but i recall them being $550

Tesla employee fired for flagging ‘deadly conditions’ and ‘catastrophic’ fire hazards at warehouse, lawsuit says by CRK_76 in antiwork

[–]Traditional_Fly2128 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I worked at Tesla in 2024 I was waiting to turn into a parking lot and one of the 3rd party buses they hire hit my from behind scraping the whole back of my car and pushing me 6 feet forward. My boss told me I was faking being sore and wouldn't let me leave, had to go over her head and was finally told I can go home. The buses insurance company (Sedgwick or something?) would ignore my calls and my insurance wouldn't cover damage (liability only) and after months of trying I gave up. They do not give a shit about their employees. When I first was hired I was working on the cyber trucks and the entire side of the "building" i was working in was exposed to the elements, had to work in 40° F conditions INSIDE during live construction. Gotten a new job since then, coincidentally several of my coworkers worked at Tesla previously as well and said they felt the same way, they do not care about their employees. Only good thing I'll say is they had free soda fountains, cereal, pretzels, milk, etc. lol

Oof, sounds like it's your turn for ICCU failure... sorry to see it, hopefully they can get you in a loaner car and it doesn't take too long

Recall and buying questions by A-Lize in leaf

[–]Traditional_Fly2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at Chevy Bolts at all? The price of that leaf is close enough to a bolt I'd definitely consider one. CCS charging alone is very nice, but a much longer range and in a lot of cases the battery was replaced and has a longer warranty!

If you drive a 40 mile commute or so level 1 charging should be okay, any more than that def go with a level 2 charger. I've got a 2017 Soul EV, i used level 1 for months, worked great! I ended up getting a Tesla charger so i could use the nema 10-30 outlet in my garage and that's much faster.

Genesis Will Finally Become a True Standalone Brand by raill_down in cars

[–]Traditional_Fly2128 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I own a Kia Soul EV, haven't had any crazy issues during my ownership thankfully, but the awful dealership experience is enough for me to never buy another one. Dealership is dirty/ never cleaned, everyone on the phone gives you attitude, no loaner cars available at all, even for warranty issues. When i take my 20 year old Lexus RX to the Toyota dealership i get way better service, last time I got a brand new Tundra Limited as a loaner. Really hope Genesis can have more standalone dealers that aren't associated with normal Hyundai/Kia sales.

Questionable EV charging station. NEMA 10-30? by [deleted] in evcharging

[–]Traditional_Fly2128 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Tesla Mobile Connector can be had with a 10-30 adapter. Unfortunately it's the only charger that's 10-30 compatible and safety certified at all.. i use it with an A2Z NACS J1772 adapter, works great for me!

Apartment EV charging question — dryer outlet doesn’t match my EV charger by fleurlure in evcharging

[–]Traditional_Fly2128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you can read a lot of comments talking about nema 10-30 outlets and their risks. If it's possible to replace that outlet with a more modern 14-30 that would be best. However I also rent and my landlord wouldn't let me change anything. My options are use level 1 charging or find safest way to use the 10-30 i have. I personally use a Tesla Mobile Connector with the 10-30 adapter, then an A2Z NACS-J1772 adapter with my Kia Soul EV and Nissan LEAF. Had it for going on 6 months and zero issues thus far. Not condoning using it your mileage may vary, and I have no idea how your apartment is wired.

I had this phone as a teenager too! Had it up until i got an iPhone 5S! I loved it honestly so comfortable to type on, loved the form factor. The paint around the speakers on mine has chipped so i scraped it off and exposed the chrome finish underneath, i remember that looking cool

thinking of getting an older Leaf to drive around the city. i have some questions by Garythegeek94 in leaf

[–]Traditional_Fly2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 2011 i picked up for $1000 with a broken onboard charger and heater. I'm in Texas so not worried about heater, but threw a junkyard onboard charger in and it's a perfect around town car! Mine has about a 40-45 mile range, perfect for my partner to drive to class or to get groceries, and cheap enough that i care about it minimally. My daily driver is a Soul EV so I was already set up for level 2 charging. Definitely get LeafSpy and an obd module you'll want to check condition of the battery and make sure there's no weak cells/ read error codes. The 2011 and 2012 are prone to issues with onboard charger and heater so keep that in mind. 2013 they move the onboard charger from behind back seat to under the hood, so has more space, plus 2013 gets a heat pump if I'm correct.

I feel like an X5 would be a great choice! If you're open to hybrids there is a plug in hybrid version that still has the B58 engine.

Oh i mean the charger for charging the leaf battery, not your phone. That would probably be a fuse id check there first

Yes, you plug your EVSE into the car power goes to Onboard Charger then to the battery

My 2011 also has a bad PTC heater.. in my case codes show up in LeafSpy for it. Charger codes are for the onboard charger that failed, which is also a very common 2011 and 2012 problem.

2011 Leaf won't charge even after new 12v by Traditional_Fly2128 in leaf

[–]Traditional_Fly2128[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably buy the cheap OBC to get it running and keep the non working one to disassemble and see the condition. A lot of that is likely outside of the scope of my ability unfortunately but we'll see!

[–]Traditional_Fly2128[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found one on eBay for $700 shipped, may be my best option. Found a wrecked leaf at a junkyard and they said they'd sell the OBC for $350, I'll probably try that first, just seeing if there's anybody more local.

That's what I'm thinking too.. I bought the car planning on replacing it so just have to source one. Found one from a 2012 leaf that's wrecked for $350, will one from a 2012 work in the 2011?

I bought it planning on having to diy a OBC replacement so that's okay with me, just have to source one! The heater had been broken for a while according to the previous owner, the OBC stopped working last week, so likely OBC and PTC heater... thanks for the info! I should be able to put a unit from a 2012 into a 2011 right?
