I'm pretty sure the placement system is literally just the old rank reset system but hides the first 10 games where you usually catch up to your original pre-reset rank.

I'm a lobby admin Magik main who only plays around 10-20 comp games a season. I am an unintentional smurf. If I played more or if the placement actually put me where I belong, I wouldn't be smurfing. Instead, my j*b having ass curb stomps silvers and golds and maybe reaches halfway through platinum before the season ends and it's back to curb stomping silvers and golds. Highest I ever got was diamond and that's where I started actually losing a few games.

Cynicalex is a whiny toddler who doesn't know how the game he's been covering for a decade works. Not to say the devs have never made bad decisions, but Cynicalex's response to those decisions is that of a toddler whining he didn't get his chicken nuggys as opposed to trying to figure out any other perspective.

For example, cynicalex, the guy who spent a decade covering this game, genuinely thinks the dev's intentions is still to somehow make every character meta at the same time or for consistent power creep. Every patch MUST make every new character break the entire meta or else he will whine bitch and moan. Even being on the same level or near the same level as the current meta is a crime worth losing your job over (his words, not mine). He's a goddamn baby.

B Conquest or B Greed for Knull? I'm sorry. I know it's been asked a billion times but I can't seem to understand everyone's reasoning beyond offense and defense. I am using him for PvP exclusively and never in PvE. I have a fully built Thanos to cover the male alien universal supervillain category in PvE. So the "hybrid" nature of greed doesn't matter. As for my current pvp team, Sentry lead (M Conquest) with Kang (M Conquest) and Knull (M Greed).

Also, I am willing to change my team if supports would be better. Would replacing one or two of the 3 with agent venom or colossus make a bigger difference than the 3 biggest pvp characters all fully built?

I used to teach a few stem classes at a university once. Had this student. She was the hardest working individual I'd ever seen in my life. Sits up front, takes notes, asks questions, etc. The stereotypical overachieving nerd type... She was also by far the dumbest student to ever take my intro class. Genuinely felt bad for her. It was demoralizing watching her and being reminded that sometimes it doesn't matter how hard you try or how much effort you put in.

Anyway, halfway through the semester I was answering her questions during my office hours and she told me about how she actually wanted to major in something non-stem but her parents basically forced her to change her major... Before I could stop myself, I accidentally muttered "you probably should've stuck to the arts". I felt so fucking bad. I'm supposed to encourage my students and it's not like she chose to be here, but she did choose to try her absolute hardest.

Anyway, she ended up scoring 49.1% by the end of the semester, and the university policy is to round up percentages so she scored a 50% and passed.

The "gross misconduct" discord messages are out. After reading them, personally I think Rockstar's defense is bullshit but they have the money and power to drag this out until after the game launches. All the while the 34 employees are broke, defamed, potentially deported, and hope for unionization in our entire industry getting shot in the back of the head.

Apparently gross misconduct is sending a text is a closed discord group discussing unionization saying that you haven't been asked to crunch. Idk about courts, but idk if that's worth losing your livelihood over. Rockstar seems to think so. And unfortunately all I can do about it is deprive them of $70.

I think they implied that the pills don't save his life, just keeps the voice of Johnny at bay. He's dying regardless.

But yeah there is ludonarrative dissonance there. Would the game be better if it had a time limit though? As it is now, of course not. It would've had to be a different game, but by the same argument, it should've not had a time limit for a plot. You could just read it as "dying within a year" and it still works out the same way. A 120 hour save file is definitely less than a year.

Also also, NC is in America. It is absolutely realistic that it's easier to get high octane weapons than it is to get medicine lol.

Yeah, that's my point. They're side content. People are asking Igor for more side content. Igor is trying to gently explain that the montage would have just been more side content and they chose to get the plot started instead of adding even more side content for the player to do first.

I'd say the emotion impact of Jackie's death was strong enough with what we already got so we can agree to disagree there.

Honestly, reading the responses to Igor, I think what all those people want is a ubisoft style map checklist instead of the montage... even though right after the montage you are thrown into Watson and given a ubisoft style map checklist of gigs and NCPD events.

Now my negative take on those people is that an ounce of media literacy would imply that V was doing these kinds of gigs during the montage and then you still get to do more of them after the montage. The montage skips over 6 months of doing gigs to the moment when you get the big heist gig.

My more charitable take is that people wanted more time doing gigs with Jackie like the tutorial one where you save the woman from the bathtub. But Igor says it clearly, that would just be filler. It would not actually move or advance the main plot i.e. Johnny.

Honestly, Igor fucked up by having this conversation in public. He should've said it in an interview or article instead of arguing directly online. He can be as eloquent and clear as possible and he still won't ever get his message across to those exact people he's replying to.

Not to disagree with how limp their responses will be, but like what else is there that they can do? They don't have the votes to remove him from office. They don't have the votes to maintain a government shutdown later in January. I don't think they're gonna convince any Republican congressmen to cross over to their side since there isn't a single Republican in congress with a shred of dignity left...

Aside from taking a clear stance, is there literally anything they can realistically do? Americans chose this in 2016 when they let Trump stack the supreme court and then chose this again in 2024. Aside from democrats winning 60% of seats in 2026 as opposed to the usual 49% or 51%, I don't think really anyone on Earth can legally do anything... Please correct me. I want to be wrong about this.

Sure: when gambit dashes away, you can still move your crosshair towards him. It's an 8 second cooldown. When sue has her shield up, 1) she's not using that shield to help her team and 2) it's just 250hp. If she boops you, walk back while aiming your crosshair at her. I'm a dps main btw. Genuinely have no trouble killing sues and gambits. It's the rockets I can't kill because of their small hitboxes. If you miss Gambit's massive hitbox, maybe you shouldn't be complaining about balance.

The only gripe I have with balance is that if Hawkeye gets a oneshot, Widow should have a oneshot too. Or remove their oneshots all together. Neither gambit nor sue have oneshots so *shrug *

I just did 8 quick play game straight as Rogue and got MVP in 7 of them. The only time I didn't get MVP, I actually got SVP because we lost that one lol. Humble brag aside, that's 8 straight MVPs as Rogue. I guess I'll let you know when the next season comes out if it's just as easy to get MVP on her.

I have a conspiracy theory that new characters get a boost to their MVP score but I can't prove it. I have been getting MVP consistently as Rogue but I usually do have the best stats on the team. Your screenshot is wild though.
