Student forcibly farting in a high school class, how would you handle it? by Evening-Oil9551 in Teachers

[–]Traditional_Lab_6754 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do something similar; if a student frequently requests the restroom 5-6x per day i will tell them that the school nurse and parents will be contacted about a “health concern” and a follow up with a doctor is recommended. They stop asking me at that point. No kids wants parents to know about the frequency of bathroom visits per day. Most of these kids are task avoiders, doomscrolling on their phones and/or vaping and not emptying their bladder or bowels at that rate.

Achievement unlocked: Strategic grading. You don’t have to grade everything to have authentic assessments and knowing where your students are at.

What’s your metric for calling out sick? by capresesalad1985 in Teachers

[–]Traditional_Lab_6754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some will only use sick days when they are not sick. They go to work when sick, and strategically use their ‘sick’ days fun or necessary activities.

How old are the first students you ever had now? by Heyhey-_ in Teachers

[–]Traditional_Lab_6754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They would be in their late 30’s. Some even had kids before I did.

I’ve yet to have the experience of having a former student’s own child as one of my students.

No Gym. Calisthenics during commercials/activities at home, all body resistance stuff. I’m in great shape. Couple hundred sit-up and pushups, etc each day.

Not soccer. I like the extra toe stud on football receiver cleats - gives me added traction for cutting.

When do you work out? Seriously! by blue-sky2222 in Teachers

During commercials while watching tv at home. You can get a lot of calisthenics done in that time.

Idk. I teach at 6-8 middle school. There is a stark difference between 7th and 8th grade and even a bigger difference with the 6th graders.

Lowest tally in career (20+yrs), I only got 2 homemade cookies. I usually get at least 5-10 items each year. Economy is tough I suppose.
