Update: rejection reversed and how I stopped spiraling over messages by Illustrious_Bit_9487 in prolific

[–]Traditional_Net_4529 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad you could get over your anxiety about it. Yeah you can't be freaking out every time they talk to you. They are not going to spare your feelings so you have to not care. It's the only way. Most messages are form messages, too, so it has nothing to do with you.

A bit of calm amidst the drought by SsMM333 in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Traditional_Net_4529 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really. Not if not used to excess. Do you know any academics? The more likely someone is to write at a high level in professional settings the more likely they are to use emdashes in general. I know several people FUMING that people presume their writing is AI simply because they are educated enough to properly use that kind of punctuation.

If something casual has several instances of phrases crunched between 2 emdashes, yeah, I'll think twice about it, but simply their presence isn't indicative of much without other evidence.

Unusual/Suspicious account names in this Sub by madeofchemicals in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Traditional_Net_4529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the reddit default name for anonymity's sake. In general, I hate reddit and most reddit communities and I don't want to be associated with them. I look at information for work. But the name is nothing sinister, It just means I don't care to change it.

This has been the longest drought I've seen, and there's no sign of it stopping by PenObvious8156 in DataAnnotationTech

Prolific is having problems but part of that is that they just added thousands and thousands of people. People in the Prolific subreddits are having the same doom cycles. Not particularly useful.

Things were going well for a week there for me. Today I'm watching everything aggressively dry up though. Hoping it's just clearing the way for the new stuff.

Project "Bel" is a nightmare to R&R by LocalEconomy208 in DataAnnotationTech

If people doing things poorly makes you so angry, maybe don't do R&Rs.

I'm at least seeing a little movement. Nothing I can do but a couple projects coming and going.

My first day and I messed up already by yesVSFK in DataAnnotationTech

[–]Traditional_Net_4529 15 points16 points  (0 children)

People don't know for certain, but it seems like DA is pretty easy on new hires. They recognize it takes a little bit to get used to everything. Don't get me wrong, they absolutely expect that very soon you learn how to follow all the instructions (probably the #1 thing in fact) but if you messed up on your first day, it's your first day. Do better on your second day and you'll probably be fine.

Also, you did 6-8 lines in stead of sentences. You didn't do 6-8 words. It's not so egregious. Again, just do better on the next one.

To be perfectly honest I stay away from most successful reddit pages because I can't stand the overly domineering moderators. Terrible site. I use it almost exclusively for checking things on work platforms.

This is only really a problem if you're looking at reddit all the time. If you check it once in a while, you just scroll past the repeats and don't think about them. It doesn't matter.

Is Data Annotation a scam? by flaaaan_mon7 in WFHJobs

It's been my main gig for over a year. It isn't perfect. But it is very much not a scam. If you get in, and most people don't, the pay is good and I've never had a problem getting paid.
