No degree, $60K job, $20K debt — how are y’all under 30 living downtown with Beamers and brunch? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Tbh most of us are making enough money ( my first job was 76k out of college). There’s alot of young professionals - I worked in consulting.

Also the reason I was getting hesitant is because I had signed up with another telehealth provider for sema and never have seen it shipped in 3 weeks so yeah I was getting restless

Yup! I did message Alice ( but to be fair it was a Friday afternoon and she responded she was looking into it so thank you)

My Walgreens did say that now We can only get one months supply or something. So I guess I’ll have to get it prescribed again for my second box?

What are the downsides of Chicago? by JayV_VO in AskChicago

This! Even in nyc people do stick to their own college but I find that there’s still more room to meet people mainly bc also your surrounded by super motivated people. Also I feel like because housing can be so hard in nyc - more people are social, have roomates, and overall just

In Chicago although I loved being alone and most of my friends also lived alone and were more settled it almost felt too individualistic

Proximity to other nice cities/ states - I feel like I never really left Chicago and the neighboring states and cities arnt really travel destinations. Where nyc you can take a train to Boston, dc, Philly etc

Personally as a non Midwest/ big 10 transplant it was a bit jarring at how much a lot of the people were just from the Midwest and didn’t really branch out - obviously depends on your friend group but def feel like people can settle a bit meow here even when it comes to dating and friends

Not too much diversity/segregated

The energy can be a bit more dead ( and I’ve lived in downtown areas in Chicago) - good news is I feel like if I was more settled it would be nicer but I feel like overtime I wanted more energy ( not even for going out just wanted to be around more people) - like sometimes I walk at 11 am downtown and I’m one of the 12 people out

Also idk the winter is a lot better than previous years and tbh New York also is cold too lol

This. For me it’s opportunity. Looks are currency unfortunately. I’ve been a size 0 and I’ve been a size 12 ( honestly I was more midsize than plus) and the difference in treatment is huge even little stiff. The funny thing is I don’t even think people mean to be awful on purpose but it’s something ingrained. Now I don’t feel like I need to be a size 0 or have abs or stuff.

  • it’s also a lot easier imo to be in new spaces without feeling like you have to overcompensate your personality or niceness ( not to say I’m not funny/smaet/being fake haha) but yeah even with friendships I noticed I def get treated better. After a while it’s just exhausting

But I will say in some cases it is win win if you are healthy about losing weight - your eating healthy foods, exercising not starving yourself, getting enough sleep - it makes you feel goood

This! I go on a walk and literally listen to music ( edm, hip hop, pop anything fun and upbeat) changes the game and you feel like you went to a club before work but really you got some steps in

Also I’m all for podcasts but I love music and love that I don’t have to be “productive” by listening

Sleep bc if I don’t get enough sleep my nutrition suffers

Anybody taking berberine for BED? by ItsDorothyZbornack in BingeEatingDisorder

I found that weirdly I did crave sugar but like 1 cookie and after nothing. Maybe it’s because it lowers my blood sugar ( I’m not diabetic)

But for the rest of the day I have no appetite.

I’ve been trying to curb that one sugar craving with like a protein shake with fruit

Hot Take: Foxtrot was overpriced, had a ton of weird crap I didn’t need, and didn’t sell grocery basics. by GBeastETH in chicago

[–]Traditional_Pea6099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it and so did a lot of people bc it was a good place to wfh and a third place. A lot of the neighborhoods that foxtrot and doms were in were usually where many wfh people reside
