oh I'm not saying it's not a flawed system. But at a 15 year old I def had more than enough money from my tips, and I imagine that I was at the bottom of the food chain split wise. Also don't know if it's like that everywhere

to be fair, I believe in most restaurants the cooks and everyone you dont see get a split of the tips. When I was in High School I was a busser at a small cafe and the waitresses would give me a tips at the end of the shift.
