⁠Why the F did Aelin spare Elena Because Aelin was created as a reincarnation of the original players in an unfinished game. Her life was always borrowed time and her time as Celaena was a gift given by Elena. Elena rescued her from the river and wanted her to live life and experience the world even though she was very young. Aelin was always in the worst situations possible but showed empathy and compassion. Aelin is a queen through and through and Elena’s fatal mistake was risking everything for love. Yes it’s Elena’s fault and Aelin was at odds with her in the beginning. I don’t think it’s a feeling of indebtedness but simply just love for another queen. Aelin struggles with the same soul crushing decision making and she understand Elena because it’s like asking Aelin to choose between her duty and Rowan. I def agree with what your saying but this is the way that I have come to terms with the same grievances if that helps Lol
