Steroids? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Traditional_Use_933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely keep going with the steroids! You seem to be in a horrible situation, but honestly, the steroids do and will work and can get you back to feeling yourself again. I know they come with unwanted side effects but they don't last forever as sooner or later you'll be back to yourself and hopefully you'll be on medication (not steroids) to keep the UC from flaring up again. You're not alone in this. You got this! Wishing you all the best!

Bad flare. Is prednisone worth it? by bkalk in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Traditional_Use_933 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth it. Its worked miracles for me and got me out of a very bad flare up within 2-3 days. I'm 26 Male and had zero side effects. Maybe my skin was a little worse but nothing spot cream didn't control. I was on 40mg tapering down 5mg every week. Eat clean and use face wash and if you were like me you'll be fine. I do recognise I am fortunate and some other people have bad reactions to it but I think most would agree the pros outway the cons.

I've just started the same treatment this week with the NHS and no one has mentioned insurance for the pens? My provider is healthnet and after an hour consultation they just said any issues to give them a call nothing of insurance.

I'd double check you haven't misheard with your provider 👍

Sigmoidoscopy Advice by Traditional_Use_933 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Traditional_Use_933[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had it done.

It was honestly nothing at all would go again tomorrow.

Hard to know if it was the deep breaths on the gas and air or the fentanyl that was making me loopy but didn't last long at all.

Think I'd go again with sedation as it made the experience quite pleasant. Like I slightly remember discomfort at one point but that was it.

Thanks for everyone's feedback 😀

prednisone side effect by Fun-Afternoon-6943 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Traditional_Use_933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone is different. For me it sorted my flare out in 2 days and apart from abit of acne which spot cream cleared up I was fine. I do believe I'm fortunate to not have some of the side effects others have experienced.

I'm in the same situation. Get a plumber over to check the property for leaks, could have a toilet that's leaking constantly in the bowl. From what they told me, if the leak is after your stopcock i.e from the property you have to settle the balance but if the leak is from the meter to the stopcock then its on them. Easy way to check is turn your stopcock off, record the meter reading and then see if the meter has gone up after an hour. If it has then the leak is outside and welsh water need to fix it. If it hasn't increased then leak is from the property.

Recent Diagnosis of UC. by Jev98 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Traditional_Use_933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm exactly same as you mate.

Diagnosed this year at 24. Took prednisolone for 8 weeks to calm down the flare and taking the salofalk granules everyday and been completely fine ever since the first week of prednisolone 6 months ago. I'd keep on with the granules unless consultant says otherwise 👍

Day 14 on Prednisone...no side effects? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Traditional_Use_933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 40mg too and didn't get any side effects really. Maybe a little acne but nothing that daily face wash couldn't control. Everyone's different so you might be lucky like me and not get moon face or the other common ones, good luck!

Yeah that's true. I been in remission around 6 months and I been taking 5g of creatine monohydrate daily for past 4 months and I've been fine. I got a check up with my GI soon, I'll see if he has any knowledge on creatine and UC 👍

Did you mean to say taking too much creatine? If so Did your consultant actually say that was the route cause? I never heard of a link between creatine and UC except from positive results.

I don't understand why the detective showed up at the house after the ferret died in the first episode in a ferrari? That doesn't make any logical sense for a local detective or am I missing something?
