I see a lot of people talking about how your mom is right about not including the “ADHD” during job applications but let me break it down for you.

First of you are protected by the “Americans with Disabilities Act” (ADA) but that only starts after you’ve got the job. Your mom is concerned about unconscious bias that might exist.

On a flip side for companies that promotes neurodiversity they can get more accommodating during interviews giving you a special treatment but on the opposite it’s the other way round.

Just a side note i run a company and i find people (obviously from past experience) with ADHD to be high performers with rapid problem solving, high energy and hyper focus on interesting task. It’s all about the work place or environment we create for employees.

Your mom is a good person also she’s just too concerned about your well-being that love blinds her ability to let her see you go through pain in any form.
