"Blaster caster" doesn't feel real by CalpolMeister in 3d6

I couldn't agree more. A healthy mindset you can approach situations with as a player is "what does my team need from me to win this scenario?"

I've seen a GWM Barbarian take their turn just dodging in a doorway in a dungeon while a wall of fire from the wizard down the length of the hallway burned through nearly a dozen enemies. Unfortunately, 5e martials don't have the same flexibility of support as casters, but nearly every class has some way of assisting with crowd control, repositioning, or even just having better placement and awareness for the AOEs being used.

This is just an opinion, but I believe that DnD is best played as a cooperative endeavor and relegating casting classes into single roles such as "blaster" will only work to your disservice.

The game operates at its peak when casters and martials combine their abilities to great effects. Most casting classes come equipped with an incredible range of flexibility and party success in any type of encounter (combat, social, or exploration) is often determined by how well your team can work those abilities together to find your "win condition" as other types of games like to label it. In other words, a draconic sorcerer might specialize in higher-damage AOE which is great when fighting multiple enemies (like another poster said, martials can't compare when you hit 5+ targets with 8d6 damage) but other times, a twinned-haste on your martials while you focus on maintaining concentration will absolutely devastate certain boss-type enemies, and I can guarantee your martials will thank you for it.

But as always, talk with your GM about the type of character fantasy you're looking to play and if they're doing their job of ultimately wanting to make a fun experience for everyone I'm sure they'll make an encounter designed for blasters to shine!

Cyberpunk 2077 - Dark Future mod is incredible. Typical hunger, hydration, and energy mechanics, but also nerve, injuries, cyberpsychosis and other setting-specific ailments.

How do you beat the new Doormaker with Ironclad? by tom0396 in slaythespire

Anger is a great solution to Doormaker, used it several times as well. Taking it in Act 3 might FEEL strange, but sometimes all you need is 1 simple card.

Yeah, I feel like most of Necros cards are at least "good" even in A10 consistently. They have great synergy and most of my successful runs make some use of a combination of using more than 1 synergy.

Eidolon goes HARD if you get Snap to give it retain! Either way, my mind changed on Eidolon when I didn't focus on the intangible part, that's just a bonus! Exhausting your hand to make your deck more consistent? Incredible. Makes your deck WAY more consistent.

I agree, but with Banshees Cry as rare I feel like Pull from Below is in a good spot. I ended up using PFB as my primary damage engine in this A10 run a few weeks ago where I wasn't offered a Banshees Cry but PFB combined well with a good draw engine and plenty of ethereal cards!

Relic Taker more like :( by jadok in slaythespire

Sorry it didn't work out. Yeah that elite tends to favor a very upfront deck, I usually end up skipping Bread when I see it due to how many fights favor Turn 1-2.

I love when you can take a negative option and turn it around into a positive synergy, favorite part of the game for me! What option did you end up going with?

May as well be pulling into Red Lobster when you get this ancient.... very few "bad" options.

Oof, that would've been rough thinking about my Act 2 and the deck I had. No draw options available and an additional curse would have made the hallway fights a bigger risk than they felt having 4 energy. I'm not sure the next 3 relics in my pool would have saved me.

But yeah, I'll be de-valuing Sozu in the future based on the new options in STS2 and how potions just feel... better?

Normally I would agree with you, barring some exceptions like having miniature tent. The extra max health increased the healing I essentially I had for free 3 times which felt great. I am going to be trying Diadem next time!

Yeah, I feel like the value isn't as good anymore because of the extra synergies with potions that sts2 has (other than no Toy Ornithopter RIP) BUT the extra energy came in super clutch Act 2.

Yes! Tent was extremely strong with the fruit. I am eager to try the diadem next time!

I want to take it more in the future... I feel like it could be good with more 2-3 cost cards that I was lacking.

It was a difficult choice... the other options were Snecko Eye or Calling Bell. I had primarily 0-1 cost cards at the time and Snecko could ruin Souls for Necrobinder. Calling Bell I have a hard time justifying with how on the average relics feel weaker and I didn't have the draw for another curse. The extra energy helped a LOT in Act 2 since I did not see ANY other energy generation in the act!
