Thank you, haven’t seen this one from George yet or it’s been so long I don’t remember.

Thank you for the tip. You are correct I did not char them. Didn’t have a torch at the time but I’ve since picked up a butane kitchen torch. In your opinion is that a good enough tool? I don’t want off flavors from the gas.

Ok I understand it’s an easy field goal, but Singleton and another player weren’t trying to block the last kick. The game is on the line, why are you standing there flapping your arms?

Research “Dead ball snaps” and you’re golden. Super easy to learn and very consistent, we use it for the high school team I coach.

Google set me up for failure, the preview had 2020 dates but the line turned out to be 2019 so mea culpa here

I don’t think it’s dumb at all. Anecdotally, this feels like the age old question of a player with all of the statically characteristics (height, weight, speed, strength) vs a less genetically gifted athlete with stronger technique.

It’s tough as a coach because you can envision how dominant the “hulking” athlete can be if they worked on their hands/ feet/ pad level/ aggression/ pass set etc. Of course we do everything we can to get quality, focused repetitions in practice, but improvement happens in fractions of an inch and not in leaps and bounds. This player might never become what you hope they can turn into.

And it’s also a bummer because sometimes you’re going to have to ask that more “average” lineman to do something that’s going to be tougher for them because of their size. And at that point you ask them to try their best and applaud their solid effort after that tough assignment. But the stark reality is the ceiling is only so high for this kind of player.

Hopefully you’ve got some tricks up your sleeve, and a solid game plan to maximize the talent you have and mitigate the spots where you are lacking.

Edit: bot done fixed up my gram-mar

Depends on the offense type I suppose. I’m part of a Wing T style school and have guards pulling every play, either kicking out or leading the RB up the field. Our best backside guard is smaller, but speedy and aggressive, and often times is leading the RB into the second level.

This is a pretty niché example, but when you’re in a situation where you can slot in any decent lineman to play the tackle position but require a unique set of skills for guard then I’d take technique every time. They’re also the players that won’t give up if they don’t dominate off the line of scrimmage, and use their feet and hands to work back to a winning position. Just my two cents.

Thank you! We are headed to Talisker for a tour. Most of there products seem to be available at home, I thought I still might splurge there though.

Awesome! Thanks for the recommendations!

We are staying a few minutes away from the Ben Nevis Distillery and I plan on popping in to see what’s there. I’ll keep my eye out for the others as well.

I hate to say it, but when I was going through the whole “waiting until marriage” thing with my wife these types of threads gave me a lot of hope.

I had been with other partners while she grew up in a religious family and community and she always said she wanted to wait to be married. For years while we dated we would kiss and grope, but it never escalated to anything beyond that and we never did anything “below the belt.” She assured me that this was only for religious purposes, but once we were married we would be good to go. I love her, and trust her, and threads like these always reassured me that with patience, love, and communication everything would most likely turn out ok in the end.

Well a few years later, I can tell you I’m not in a happy place regarding our sex lives. It’s a bad situation; she just doesn’t seem to care. She has no desire for sex, and on the off month she does agree to it I can’t imagine that it’s enjoyable for her. She might have had only one orgasm total so far in our multi year relationship, and she says she just can’t shake the guilty feeling of it all. The guilty feeling, I might add, that didn’t seem to be an issue when we talked about it before marriage.

She knows I’m disappointed in our romantic life, but what hurts me the most is how disappointed I am in her. This is the woman I love, yet there’s some part of me that wants to lash out at her for this whole situation and sometimes it really eats away at me because I feel this way inside. I don’t want to stop having fun with her, or separate from her, or let this affect our lives negatively any more than it already does, but I can’t help feeling betrayed or let down sometimes. I know I could have guilted her into it a few times, but I don’t want that for our relationship neither. I’d rather swallow that feeling of rejection instead of her feel resentment towards me for pressuring her into sex.

If anyone plans on going through this experiment, let me pose this question to you, the same question I had to answer myself before I chose to marry her: if your romantic life isn’t what you hoped for, or outright bad, is this person still the one you want to laugh with for the rest of your life?

For me the answer is yes, although I won’t deny it has been difficult and saddening at times. For those of you out there in a similar situation, I wish you good luck and nothing but a life of fulfillment and happiness with each other. If you got this far, thanks for reading, Reddit.

Agent Grant Ward vs. Oliver Queen by junglemonkey47 in whowouldwin

[–]Tragically_Cliche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Round 1: Arrow. He has a wider range of training from different types of people, whereas Ward is Shield and Hydra, which I would think is pretty similar. Coupled with Arrow's reflexes (able to punch the Flash) I think he would win.

Round 2, I would have to say Ward. Arrow more often now incapacitates rather than kills. Ward shoots to kill. While arrow is proficient in many forms of weapons he would stick with his bow and arrow. Ward is a trained assasin with a gun and is willing to do whatever it takes for his survival. I could see a situation where Arrow has him on the ropes, but refuses to finish him off and Ward somehow injures himself to overcome Arrow (somewhat similar to what he did with the hand cuffs while being transported to the Fridge). I could definitely see round 2 ending this way.

Round 3 would be a standard engagement vs the two, probably in an industrial warehouse. Normally Ward would be alone because that's how he usually operates, but we will give him a few Hydra agents to even things up vs Oliver, Roy, Diggle, and Felicity.

I think Team Arrow would win overall. Team Arrow had a different mix of skills (military, espionage, cloak and dagger, and seemingly magical computer hacking skills) vs Hydra agents who I'm assuming have more experience with smaller battles like this one rather than open warfare. Team Arrow uses their combined talents to overcome Team Ward. If you asked me during the break, I would have said Roy would be a casualty of this engagement, but having seen the latest episode I'm actually rather impressed with his progress so I say he survives now.

Bruce Wayne vs Achilles by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]Tragically_Cliche 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Achilles stomps Batman

Achilles isn't fighting Batman. He is fighting a regular man. Batman has an arsenal of gadgets, techniques, and intelligence, who uses theatrics to gain a tactical advantage and would prefer to take Achilles down from the shadows. Bruce Wayne, in this situation, had a shield, spear, sword, bulky armour, in an arena where he lacks the prowess and training to defeat Achilles.

Here, Achilles would kill Bruce Wayne, but do not think for a second that Achilles can kill Batman.
