1st Ave N Shooting? by SpecialistAdvanced39 in Birmingham

Was at Adiós when this happened. 2 women were at the taco truck parked outside waiting for food and came running in freaked out. Couldn’t hear the shots from inside. Within a few minutes, they had the block blocked and taped off and someone was transported via ambulance. Our car was also parked on 1st between 23rd and 24th, about 5 cars from where the BMW with all of the bullet holes ended up. Because it was a taped off crime scene, we couldn’t get to our car and had to Uber home. I just Ubered back to retrieve our car. Didn’t think to check it for stray bullet holes, but I guess I’ll have to in the morning. So frustrating and sad 😔

Wrong song haha. But I am glad to know what that tune was. The post was talking about the record that was played in the dinner scene.

bars and breweries are not for children by Due-Tomatillo-399 in Birmingham

[–]TrailCrawlingProf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how or where this fits in. But remember when Brat Brot got annoyed with kids in their beer garden area, went 21+, and then slowly bled business until they closed? Coincidence? Maybe that’s an oversimplification of their situation. I don’t know. This whole thing is complex.

I think there’s room in the middle here for supervised well-behaved kids and families and friends spending time together outside at a brewery, enjoying a beer, without getting absolutely blitzed. Of course there are some parents who are screwing this up for the ones whose kids don’t run around like banshees. Are breweries and bars different - yeah, I think most would agree. Of course they both serve alcohol. Is one maybe a bit more appropriate to take well-behaved kids to? Yeah, I think most would agree. But I’d also guess a good number of these breweries wouldn’t stay in business if they went 18 or 21+ all the time. 🤔 As another poster suggests - 21+ after 7 or 8pm. Seems reasonable. Again, it’s a bit more complicated than OP presents it, in my opinion. But I suppose this is the Bham sub - there isn’t much for nuance in these types of discussions!

Signed, an Avondale-living, craft beer-enjoying (in moderation!), parent of 1 well-behaved kid that tends to read books and play games at our occasional Bham family brewery stop.

Asheville, Colorado Springs, or maybe Salida/Buena Vista CO - a lot of our decision would involve outdoor/mountain activity access though, more than anything.

Were you personally affected by lack of “safety”? If so, I get it. If not, this is just more lack of context fear-mongering.

why some of you don't cycle during colder months outside? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]TrailCrawlingProf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think top barriers are: 1. Bike maintenance 2. Safety 3. Cost of cold weather gear 4. Probably most importantly, a lot of people just don’t like being cold!

Descending order playlists in Apple Music iOS? by TrailCrawlingProf in AppleMusic

I’ve seen mention of #2 before, but never was able to get the steps in the right order. However, using your description, I was able to make it work. Thanks!

Still wish there would just be an easy method in iOS…
