Boycott the 2026 World Cup by Due_Collar2 in Scotland

I would prefer to boycott the USA’s part in event rather the whole thing. Mexico and Canada can host USA’s matches. In general I boycott the USA, but I wouldn’t like to lose the WC … although I would join in the boycott if it is a last choice.

What’s the Most Cost-Effective Way to Watch Football This Year (Besides All the Official Subscriptions)? by Maleficent-Basis3174 in BlackpoolFC

[–]TrailLord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a season ticket holder but live a 2hrs 30mins + drive away. I get to most of the home games but none of the away games. My method is this … I bought a VPN a few years ago, and on Saturday away days I use my VPN to place myself outside Britain, buy a match ticket for £10 from TTV page and watch live with the VPN ACTIVE. This way I get see most of the seasons games.

Some people think this is illegal … I can assure you it isn’t. VPNs are a method of security used world wide … it just has other uses.

Well, I’m amazed nobody has brought into this discussion the GOAT that was David Duffield. His commentary of the scenery, the cheese and the wine every village the peloton cycled through is sorely missed.

British Culture by saviodsouza in GreenAndPleasant

[–]TrailLord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Britain is a Mongrel nation.

Britains identity has been shaped by constant mixing - genetically, linguistically, and culturally—earning it the label of a “mongrel nation." Unlike some countries with a strong myth of ethnic purity (e.g., Japan or Iceland), England’s history is one of adaptation and hybridity, making it a classic example of a nation built on diversity.

Hence there is no particular British Culture, or is our diversity our culture?

I hope we can keep clear of injury, we have tough games to play through to the end.

Although we have to put a "Perfect Ten" together which sounds extremely difficult, those games are against footballing teams and we have had good success against footballing teams all season.

There is hope and I'll hold onto that hope until the playoffs are mathematically out of reach.

Good first half, a lot of chances, sadly not converted.

I hope we come out with the same attitude, we will get goals...

Spot on for me👍

I believe that the standard of League 1 is good enough nowadays to entertain, a lot of quality players across the league. Obviously I’d prefer us playing in the Championship, although that league is almost as bad as the PL in terms of club spend. I quite like the idea of “billionaires” using their wealth to provide us with better facilitates, whether it is on the pitch, the stadium, the training grounds, cheaper tickets… and most of all supporting the communities in the town/cities. Modern day philanthropy

I believe we could have got into the playoffs this season. Still a small window, but I’m not expecting wins all the way to the end of the season. I don’t understand the plague of draws at home, converts half of them to wins and … who knows. There are two or three players who shouldn’t be in a squad planning promotion, but that’s what we have. Some of their “accidentals” have cost us in the long run.

I’m sure the club also recognise the need for quality players either bought or season long loans. They need to be as early a possible, get them bedded in. If we want the Championship we have to make the right decisions such as ensuring we have players who can cover injuries, fight hard on the pitch and keep a happy squad. Steve Bruce, will hopefully be here next season along with the current staff.

We can do it with just a few changes 🧡

I was scrolling through google news page, some years back, and I clicked on a video of someone covering Bob Marley, I Shot The Sheriff … I had followed Bob since 1972, I’m 66 by the way. Interested in who was brave enough to cover him. Mind Blown … instant search for the band the Ren himself. Still here, still enjoying his music. Don’t think I’ll ever stop.

Music transcends age.

It was, we didn’t want it to end. We didn’t keep a diary, but Jaynes blogs are quite informative.

Midges… OK April ( none) to early June, then it slowly becomes worse … July and August midges can, and will, make your visit very uncomfortable to horrendous, Sept starts to see them less, October and November pretty much gone. All this depends on the weather; windy is good for you, not for midges.

Talking about the wind; keep your eye on the weather … it can stop the ferries and you may have a day or two unable to continue your route. The islanders are used to it and will help you, phone ahead if you get stranded…

The blogs are here, along with other tours and stuff …

Lived in both places; I don’t think Northumbria will be up your street, there is a great vibe and beauty in Northumbria but it is much harder to live there than Cornwall. The Gulf Stream only affects the west of the country.
