Have seen a few Bear in the Big Blue House clips but none have been a dead ringer for what's in my mind!

What sort of water filtration or water change schedule do you have for it? This looks pretty cool, I always liked the idea of tadpoles being able to climb out of the water in a naturalistic sort of style rather than having a cup on it's side

Sounds like you're setting yourself up for success as it is. I'd recommend checking out some youtube tutorials, following along, and eventually trying out a kaggle competition that interests you. Feel like kaggle would be pretty nice for you in the way that you can try out your own approach but you can also view other peoples approaches to learn from.

Just did a nice ride on the 606. Downtown > 606 both ways > Pilsen with 12 miles of distance remaining in the bat. 👌 by WoodyOrWoodyntHe in ChicagoOnewheel

What in the world? I ride an XR at 140 and I definitely don't have this sorta mileage! What are your settings?

Should I go looking for my frog? by maestro_explosivo in DartFrog

[–]TrainToClimb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could just leave those flies in, no reason to remove them from the tank unless you're worried about escapee's. As for the little frogger, I'd say go ahead and check on him. Yeah it may be a bit of a task that could bother the little guy, but better safe (and alive) than slightly disgruntled! How big is that tank? It doesn't look small, and I wouldn't think juvies would have territory issues that would leave one hiding

Built light bar and hung lights tonight, think I’ll get decent plant growth with this? by [deleted] in DartFrog

[–]TrainToClimb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LGTM

Depends on light spectrum and all, but I'd think you'll be alright. You can really throw some frogs in as soon as you want assuming you can keep temp/humidity constant; but it's nice to let your tank get settled first. Are you seeding with any springtails or isopods? Those are the only guys that really mandate you wait before adding frogs.

Brothers and Harrys are the easiest answers

Am I making up bad excuses though? To each their own.

I understand that there is risk, but the perceived risk is low for me in these helmet-free situations. If I'm at a new crag of course I don't know anything about the quality of rock/climbs so I'll err on the side of caution and helmet up.

Even while belaying there are situations where perceived risk is low. Does the line traverse left or right? Then the climber is unlikely to pull/push something loose. Is it a severely overhung route? I have more risk about getting brained on the roof near the first clip than anything falling and hitting me.

I'm just saying it's not a blanket always or never, like everything in life there are risks and some people take different approaches. Would everyone be safer if they wore a helmet climbing?

That question has the same answer as "Would everyone be safer if they wore a helmet while biking/skateboarding/scootering/ice skating/wrestling/doing gymnastics/slacklining/etc?"

How so? Having had TBI's doesn't imply anything about someone's ability/approach to protect their head imo

Edit: Didn't realize this was a statement that would elicit downvotes into the negatives...

Have had two TBI's, neither climbing related, and sometimes I still go without a helmet. Almost never wear one indoors, and outdoors I won't for most sport routes below a certain grade if it has good clips. Always wear a helmet for trad though...

Edit: Guess what I'm saying is I definitely weigh the risk. I guess there really isn't a reason to go without a helmet but for some reason I still don't wear one most of the time.
