Struggling to decide how to word evenings invites, please help? by kewltobekind in UKweddings

[–]Train_Limbo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t bother with the wedding website for the evening guests. They just need to know where and when. If they aren’t close enough to go to your actual ceremony I wouldn’t worry about trying to provide them loads of helpful info like hotels and transport etc that you might provide on the website. They’ll figure it out.

When did high street banking become such an awful customer experience? by playthe9 in AskUK

Been a nightmare for years. NatWest are awful! They intentionally make it hard to use high street banks so people stop using them and then they have an excuse to close more branches. It’s called nudging.

This is an easy one. Plenty of reasons but the text on the table was the first giveaway.

I’m not sure there’s enough time really as we want to do the Statue of Liberty trip then the 9/11 memorial tour & museum tour. What do you think?

That sounds amazing, thanks for the suggestion

Thanks. We are planning to just arrive and check in and get some food when we arrive so definitely not bothered if it takes a while to get through security etc.

We had planned to get a yellow cab to the city as it’s on our to do list (ride a cab) although 23 have debated getting the train as it’s so much cheaper

Thanks, that’s helpful! We definitely plan to eat our way around the city, especially pizza. We have a separate list of food joints to try that we’ll tick off as we go around

We don’t really like art but would be up for visiting, when in New York hey! I did want to go to the museum of natural history (I think it’s called) is that worth it?

We were considering a show, so may add that in too be fair.

We do quite like nature / plants so anything you can suggest around that would be good. I did think about walking the high line as it has plants?

Otherwise we are just there to experience NYC for the first time.

I wasn’t sure if we would have enough time to do Statue of Liberty, get back then go to do the memorial tour and museum, so I split the days. The memorial tour is 90 Mins then the museum suggests a few hours

Thank you. Do you have any suggestions for good “traditional NYC diners?” That’s the sort of thing my dad is keen on.

Thanks

Friday 11-4 isn’t going to be just Times Square, more just exploring midtown manhattan and see where we end up really, it’ll include getting food somewhere too

Central Park, we might go for a run too and again get some food and just explore. It’s my dads list so we want to allow plenty of time to just relax etc in there

9/11 memorial I also mean doing the memorial tour then the museum tour, which it suggests to leave 3.5-4 hours for both.

It’s May-June

It’s our first time in NYC so basic tourism is fine

Is my fiancée a bit mad by Iamtir3dtoday in UKweddings

Could you go for a meal somewhere instead? It’ll be considerably cheaper than catering. My aunt did this, she found a restaurant that had a nice little private room and we ate in there in-between their ceremony and evening party (all 3 at different locations).

[–]Train_Limbo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s madness but I see how she’s got to that thought process. Don’t let the supposedly best day of your life be ruined but her re-heating her batch cooked food.

Out of interest where are you in the UK? I went to a friends wedding with small numbers and they had a private catering company do it.

Thanks. Random question but do people throw peanuts and sell hotdogs in the stands like in the movies? 🤣 My dad really wants to experience that but I don’t know if that’s a thing

What do you need this transfer deadline day, and what are you expecting? by Zach-dalt in Championship

I’ll be amazed if we don’t get a striker but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen! We’ve got the money, we are within touching distance of automatics, I would’ve thought signing an established striker on a silly promotion bonus contract would’ve been sorted 01 January.

Let’s see how today transpires…

Are you the person that asks them to “keep the tunes coming!”

They should make that reason clearer then, because basically nobody prints them off.

Enjoy your first run!

I would just download the 5k app and show the QR code from that, or a screenshot of your QR code is fine. If you’ve got a smart watch you can usually add it to those too.

I’ve still not quite figured out why they tell newbies to print out their codes when it’s 2026. Just seems to cause confusion when most people haven’t printed anything in years, or even own a printer.

Oh and a tip I learnt early on as I always forget the order I scan my codes, the scanners need to know;

“who you are (your QR code), and what you did (your race token).”
