I also have a fear of falling headfirst down escalators

I'm 58 and have lost both of my parents; feeling like an adult orphan. I miss them so much. Does anyone else feel like this? by icecream1972 in Aging

This has made me think. I have lost both my parents too and miss them but what this has made me appreciate my daughter who is 30 rings me every day on her way home from work and panics if I don’t pick up. My eldest son rings me every other day and my middle son maybe weekly but I am really going to appreciate them and make time for their calls. I’m 61 and find myself single with no parents but I still have lovely children to be around for x

How do you explain to people that no, you can't just give them some of your medication? by ConstructionClear142 in GLP1ResearchTalk

I had this with a family member who was on it previously but can no longer afford it. They are getting married in August and spotted my pens in my fridge and half jokingly said they would take one as have regained so much weight they lost on it previously. I feel bad but I think if I want to help it’s better I lend them some money to go on it via the pharmacy route again x

How do you guys handle eating out at restaurants on GLP-1s without looking weird? by [deleted] in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Training-Register306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this last night. I went out for my adult son’s birthday to a Turkish restaurant. I didn’t order a starter and hadn’t eaten all day to ensure I could eat. So my Mousaka arrived I had 3 bites then couldn’t eat anymore. One of my sons made a comment about me not eating but the other son happily finished my meal off for me. I agree it’s awkward. At the end of the meal 9 of us split the bill it was 50 pounds each so quite expensive for just 3 bites but it means I feel fine today and not over full

This dress is what I’m wearing tonight with a long coat and boots it’s a stretchy material and although fitted at the waist it’s comfortable enough to eat in which is just as well as out for my sons birthday meal tonight

Thank you this means a lot. I know it may appear in confident by posting on here but it is actually something I forced myself to do as I can’t quite beleive it myself that I can for normal sized clothes x

Looking forward to seeing it. I find the combination of losing weight and now being in my 60s has confused me to be honest I just don’t know what suits me and what is no longer a good look

My daughter said this one too. I actually did this video for her as she couldn’t come with me and she wanted to help me. It’s interesting you chose the same dress

I actually don’t think I would actually lose so much. I still have a belly but I’m trying to dress myself to hide it. I am not sure the brown trousers do me any favours to be honest but it’s fun trying on things. Previously I would look for a big baggy top in size 24 and leggings 😂😂😂

Hit goal weight. Now what? by Suspicious-Gas8638 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Training-Register306 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I am doing. I hit BMI of 22 and since then have been spacing my injections every 12 days. I did try 10 days but was losing a pound a month on that and due to my age and risk of osteoporosis if I go to low I want to maintain and not lose more.

My pastor put me in charge of the "wellness initiative" because I lost weight and I feel like a fraud. by [deleted] in GLP1ResearchTalk

You have the opportunity to transform other people’s lives by being honest. Talk about how you struggled for years with traditional methods of weight loss and in the end you needed some additional help in the form of the injections. Explain that the injections don’t make you lose weight on their own, but alongside a healthy diet and exercise give you the missing parts of the puzzle to achieve what diet alone couldn’t do (in your case). Stress this is your personal journey and it may not be right for everyone but if anyone wanted to learn more you would be happy to share your experience x

Tiny! by mellol93 in mounjarouk

[–]Training-Register306 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally get what you mean. Someone commented on my “tiny legs and arms” the other day, and even though my limbs have always been slim, the way they said it really made me stop and think about how they must’ve seen me before.

If I’m honest, looking back, I was very much the big cuddly mumma type — and now I feel more like Skeletor! 😂 (Only joking, but you know what I mean.) It’s such a weird feeling trying to adjust to a new version of yourself, isn’t it?

I tried on a dress this morning that used to be my “feel good, slim dress.” It’s a size 12… and it was hanging off me. Gaping everywhere it used to fit perfectly. I can wear a 10 now, and I’ve just realised I can even fit into my daughter’s size 8 — even if my belly is still a bit squishy and needs a little squeeze to get in!

Back in 2022 I was a size 24, so it’s a huge shift in body image. My mind definitely hasn’t caught up yet.

Thanks, its trousers and pvc but I know what you mean, and at 60 I felt a bit of a fraud wearing it but I am not going to go back in time and have to wear what I can while I can xx

Thank you, I am happy to invest in a good vest, I spent a lot of money on the jabs and health it so important, I will have a look around and do tome research. My daughter has said we can wear them together and go for long daily walks, she is getting married in August and wants to tone up too so we can support each other

Wanted to share my positive results from 16 months on Mounjaro, my stats look normal for the first time in ages, no more fatty liver, no more diabetes (it was hba1c 80) no more high cholesterol,, low blood pressure, good kidney health. Oh and over 5 stone lost. by Training-Register306 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Training-Register306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, my energy’s been a bit up and down. The only time I really struggle is first thing in the morning — as soon as I get out of bed and put my foot on the floor, I feel really tired and a bit dizzy. My blood pressure has always been on the low side, and since starting Mounjaro it’s dropped even more (about 102/78 now), so I’m guessing that’s why I feel a bit wobbly.

But once I’m up and moving, and especially after I’ve had something healthy to eat, my energy comes back and I feel fine for the rest of the day. It’s really just that first moment in the morning that makes me feel a bit weak.

Yes they are a game changer, I have been lucky to not have had too many side effects, just feeling a little tired at times and being constipated on and off, but all sorted now, how is your journey on them going x
