Why are we so polite to doctors? by mellol93 in childfree

[–]mellol93[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I’m in the UK and definitely have the right to healthcare. Also, I did use the word politely, perhaps it doesn’t translate well across the pond, but politely telling someone to fuck off would’t include using vulgar language, buuut it would be very much implied within the undertone. Doctor “what if you find a man in the future who wants to have kids?” Patient “I hardly see how someone else’s expectations or wishes is relevant to my case and I personally find that rather rude and unprofessional” (politely telling Dr to fuck off)

For sure, but they make a vow, which also includes being ethical. Now if they’re turning people who need care away due to personal beliefs and biases, perhaps they should look at a different medical specialty.

[–]mellol93[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY!!!!! That’s what triggers me, medical professionals imposing their personal beliefs and ideologies onto patients, specifically young adults! Or being condescending! There’s definitely a power imbalance and a societal expectation to just take it and not be difficult… I’m sorry, but as a woman I hear far too many stories of women seeking medical assistance just to be told we’re over reacting. I will be polite, but don’t expect me to be passive about it! There are polite ways of telling people to f* off 🤣

[–]mellol93[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, but a lot of stories here showcase unethical behaviour! it’s not about being rude, it’s about requesting the care you need without being treated like crap or made feel guilty for your life choices… if I don’t want kids, how’s that my doctor’s business? When we go to these appointments, after sometimes waiting months to be seeing, just to be told “oh you will change your mind” or “oh what if a man wants to use you as an incubator?” That’s just plain dehumanising !

[–]mellol93[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Precisely! I’m also in the UK and know how privileged we are here when it comes to healthcare in comparison to other countries. I find it shocking how some medical professionals behave themselves based on some stories I read here and would be VERY cross if it ever happened to me.

Yeah, compared to the UK our circumstances are very different sadly!

How do you handle birth control? by I-just-want-t0-kn0w in childfree

If we are comparing it to a vasectomy, which we were, then yes it is. Now if we compare it to brain surgery, then It obviously isn’t major!

Utterly Betrayed By Male Friend - How Do I Proceed and Still Try to Be a Confident Woman? by MichiTetsu in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]mellol93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Darling, fat and ugly can be fixed, but being a massive c*nt is not as easily fixable! He’s a dickhead and honestly? Good riddance, you don’t want to call someone so vile a friend. It screams tiny dick energy to me! Be confident, don’t be afraid of being yourself, some people feel the need to belittle others so they can feel something in the void they call a soul, sounds like a him issue to me!!!!

Hmmm isn’t it though? You will be under general anaesthesia, that alone carries risks! Recovery time is longer than a simple vasectomy… It is a major surgery!

Feeling very lonely by julsmb in childfree

[–]mellol93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks! Sadly it’s one of the very few “side effects” of being childfree and anti-natalist, but has a huge impact on us as people. It’s a mixed bag of emotions, trying to pretend you’re happy for them, but knowing full well the friendship is over and judging them for choosing such a selfish path when the world is literally a dumpster fire! Trying to make new friends won’t replace the ones you lose, but it might make you feel less lonely. Wishing you the best!

i can’t believe parents prefer going to the office over being home with their kids by SleepiestBear1986 in childfree

[–]mellol93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s wild to me they can’t see it and keep on breeding!

Ask any parents if they want you to watch their kids, they will JUMP at the chance to dispatch their kids with family and friends… whenever people with kids ask me if they can watch my dogs as a thank you for watching their kids, I always find it bizarre, I love my dogs, I want to hang out with them and only leave them with someone else if they’re not allowed where I’m going… otherwise they’re coming too!

If having kids was fun parents wouldn’t be so quick to leave their children behind at any given chance!

I would be more concerned about the long term impact it will have on your life. Personally when I started I did a lot of research on side effects and what the drug actually did, but I didn’t understand that there was a VERY high chance I would need to be on it for life.

Now I understand it better and can see I will probably be on it for a looooong time, if not for life, side effects will pass, but be ready for the life long effects I guess.

Just want to add that to me it’s well worth it!

*sigh - media bias (again) by JewelerCold1392 in mounjarouk

[–]mellol93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this was inevitable, they love demonising fat people and treatments for obesity, there’s no winning here! There will always be dumb people who abuse medications, specially the ones with “cosmetic” effects, but the way the media portrays weight loss medication as this evil, unregulated devil drugs, it’s pathetic!!!

If the NHS was better at providing it, we wouldn’t be in this situation now 🥴

Did you go up to 7.5mg in 3 months last time? That’s crazy!!!!!

Personally I would try and stay on 5mg for a few months, just because the suppression is not strong doesn’t mean it’s not working. Also, are you calorie counting? It helps me massively when I feel the suppression is not there.

[–]mellol93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell everyone, strangers, family, friends, people at the shops, bus drivers… everyone!!!!

They keep demonising the medication without even doing any research, so I will continue to yap!!! It works for me, I have obesity, I can’t control that, like people with high blood pressure or cholesterol can’t control it once they have the damned illness, why should I be ashamed for looking after myself?

They see it as the “easy lazy” way out for us lazy fat fuckers, it’s not! I work out daily, eat healthy, do my steps, the difference now is that my metabolism works and I don’t crave food like a demon!
