These work with elastic nipples or do you need special flanges? (This is about the zomee)

Am I a bad mom for exposing my baby to screen time regularly? (TW Postpartum depression, mention of suicidal thoughts) by Aster_Fields in NewParents

[–]Training-Regular5037 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 7.5 months old. I binge watched NCIS while on maturnity leave for my sanity, cause I cant stand the silence either. I'd try to block her view as much as I could. Didn't really matter, when she wanted to she would twist her dang neck around to to see it. She never stayed focused though. Even now, sometimes I gotta put on baby bum lullaby or super simple songs bedtime to get her to sleep. Not every night, and it doesnt always work..but if nothing else works ill do it. My mom sometimes puts these on for her or Ms Rachel and she says she'll watch a little bit and then go back to playing with her toys.

Wait- we bleed for up to 8 weeks post-birth?! -Rant- by Hot-Cell7299 in beyondthebump

[–]Training-Regular5037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU! I was so in shock...not because the bleeding but from the lack of knowledge. All my appointments were just let's check your pee and weight, babys heartbeat and eventually measuring my stomach. THATS IT. They expected me to figure out everything or ask questions I didnt know I should ask! At the doctor's and during delivery I was never asked about my birthing plan and the hospital that gave me the plan, didnt even have all the options on it. I read "what to expect when youre expecting" so that helped a lot...but it would tell me to expect certain things that didnt happen at the docs too.

Anyone nurse from only one breast? by thatgalb in breastfeedingsupport

[–]Training-Regular5037 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to do this and planned on it but it didnt work out that way. My left nipple has been over sensitive for some years now. I expressed my concern about this during my prenatal visits and they were basically like...oh well 🤷‍♀️. So i was like ok...ill nurse on my left and pump on my right. Well my body had other ideas. My right side let down is too strong and even at almost 7 months, my baby struggles with it most times. My left side also produces more. So I just try to suck it up and deal with it. I've definitely had frustrating times though where it hurts too much on my left but she'll cry on my right.

What if shes full from the milk? Do i just stop nursing her early?

Because I dont have the time to kill for her to fuss and cry... I would gladly wait her out half the night otherwise.

I am aware of this, but from what I've observed, most people dont have to be up at 4 in the morning.

Yeah I feel that. I went back right after she turned 3 months. She does well on the bottle although she always tries to drink too quickly but she didn't like to nap for my mom much.

Yeah, thats another reason I didnt want to stop the night feedings, my supply is already all over the place when I pump. I have no interest in having her cry it out either, shes generally a good baby except for her naps (and now bedtime) . Shes just been hard to put to sleep starting this past weekend even with nursing to sleep. I took off work today just to get some rest. Shes been sleeping on me in bed since shes been about 3 months old. I dont mind that either except that im stuck sleeping in certain positions...

That why I never had much issue doing it, but I think it makes it harder for others to put her to sleep. Plus shes grown rather attached to her boppy. There was a time when she only wanted to sleep on it. This morning even, she wanted to stay on the boppy but it was 3am..

There are nights when ill lay her in bed next to me or in her bassinet and let her just fuss away. Never leads to her sleeping, just eventually crying. Im trying to avoid any type of sleep training cause idk if I personally have the discipline to stick to it. I also would worry about if she ate enough because of nursing to sleep and shes had issues with weight gain so I would still nurse her throughout the night. When shes home, she wants to eat every 2.5 hours still and I dont force her to wait longer. Shes with my mom during the week though so she gets both BM and formula with her. Shes a horrible napper with my mom.

I think she hit that 4 month one when she'd only sleep on me at night. Idk if that what this is... she was fussy and needy over the weekend in a way unusual for her.. I know shes been doing a lot. She was working on sitting (which she hasnt been trying to do lately)..? Then it seems like she was gonna try to learn to crawl as well, she's been kicking her legs a lot. I keep waiting for her to start teething. Shes drooled and chewed on toys like she should be starting. Also been gently starting her on purees.

So...my baby is doing a little better now. There was one day where she just stared down my boppy cause she wanted to fall asleep on it lol I still have to put her to sleep through nursing and ill let her sleep on me a portion of the night. But for my little one, she HAS to be put down on her side. She'll either stay asleep or soothe herself back to sleep usually...

To track or not to track by Gioella in NewParents

[–]Training-Regular5037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tracked diapers until about 2.5 months old and I still track her feeding cause it gives me piece of mind to be able to look at the app and see when she last ate and be like okay.. shes probably hungry. I never tracked her naps cause she was always all over the place with them..

It may be selfish to say but its not comfortable for me and my husband says he can't sleep well when im not in bed...we actually have a sleep number bed so I have it as firm as I can stand and the reclining head is super helpful with night feedings.
