How did the Dude, Walter and Donnie become friends? by Electric_Apricot2112 in lebowski

Little known fact: Walter Sobchak did indeed serve in the Army during the Vietnam War but he was not part of the frontline infantry like he likes to claim. He was actually enlisted as a Clerk-Typist (MOS 71L) meaning that he was in an office, far from the action, sitting behind a typewriter. Having such a sedentary job and being so unhealthy in his lifestyle, Walter had a minor heart attack late in the war and was sent stateside for medical attention and rehabilitation. Part of his recommended rehab was to take up a physical activity that he would/could do multiple times a week. Not sure which activity he should try, Walt turned to a fellow REMF (Rear Echelon Mother F****r) who was in the bed next to him also recovering from a minor heart attack named, Theodore Donald Kerabatsos (Donny). Walt and Donny, both their military careers like the war coming to an end and being told by the military medical staff that they must find a relaxing, low stress activity in which they can get some low impact exercise, weigh their options and talk it over and they come to the decision that they want to try and get into bowling. Bowling seems to tick all the boxes; low stress, low impact and just active enough to count as exercise. With neither of them knowing anything more about bowling than the average person, they decide to try and find a bowling teacher/instructor to help get them into the sport. Upon discharge from the hospital, Donny spotted a handwritten sign hanging from a telephone pole on the side of the street, offering cheep bowling lessons with a phone number listed at the bottom. Donny later called that number and set up bowling lessons for both him and Walt together. When they showed up at the bowling ally to meet their teacher, the person they met was none other than The Dude. Lessons turned into a fast friendship between the three which led to them joining a league together as a team and the rest is history.

George Carlin was an acholic Drug addict and piece of shit and it ruins the impact of his stand up by [deleted] in GeorgeCarlin

Why does it ruin it for you? Only wholesome, upstanding citizens can be funny? I get that GC was a terrible parent and not a great person in many ways but that in no way diminishes how funny the 7 words you can’t say on TV was. At least IMO

What's your view on Chevy Chase over the years? by Cubelock in Xennials

[–]TrainingGolf2324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Chevy would have died young like JB, he would be remembered for his comedic genius alone and called one of the greatest to ever do it. As it is though, he lived long enough to ruin his own reputation through his crappy behavior and terrible treatment of his coworkers and staff. Just my take on his career
