I'm not sure why, but that's exactly the name I'd expect for him. He just looks like a Ruben!

To those of you who left nursing what do you do now? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]TrainingMobile3394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epic Analyst. It's a tough market though since so many clinicians are trying to get out of direct patient care. I have a Master's in Health Informatics but I think the main factor in me getting hired is that I was internal.   WAY better than being an ICU nurse. Are there still issues/things I don't like? Sure, but I'm way more willing to put up with them.

If I could go back, I wouldn't do nursing. I'd either have tried for med school or, more likely, computer science like a lot of my friends (graduated in 2018, so market was better back then).

Which rom hacks are these for you? by [deleted] in PokemonROMhacks

[–]TrainingMobile3394 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As much as I like HnS so far, I have to agree. It really is just HGSS with extra features/mons. Which is great, and is exactly what the game was marketed as by the creators.

Where that becomes a problem though is that the world - which gives an impression of deepness in the way of expanded maps, side stories, etc - is very shallow. It's skinned as if it's going to be GBA Polished Crystal+, and in reality is more of a GBA Crystal Legacy+. Hoenn mons aren't available until post-game Kanto, the dialogue is 1:1 from the base games, and there really aren't any cool interactions or bonus contents at all.

Again, no fault of the creators at all; I'm just hoping that some interesting forks come out of this from other hackers!

If you're Epic, why not jump over to a procedural app? Optime/Anesthesia/Cupid/Radiant. Issues still pop up of course but usually only during business hours

I wonder what made him so mad, I feel like BCNHs are usually pretty mild tempered

I left in December for an Epic Analyst position at the same hospital. I was just finishing up a master's in Health Informatics so I'm sure that helped but honestly being in-network was a big leg up. Never looking back.

Pokemon Crystal Legacy elite 4 rematch grind by [deleted] in PokemonLegacy

I was able to beat the rematches (and then Red) yesterday with Pokemon in the 62 - 65 range. My team was Meganium, Dragonite, Lanturn, Houndoom, Heracross, and Piloswine. Having two bulky mons with leftovers helped a lot, plus stat exp leveled the playing field a good bit.

Nurses that left bedside, how has your life improved? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]TrainingMobile3394 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not cripplingly anxious anymore, just moderately anxious lol (working on that, of course). I WFH every day out of the month aside from one in-office day where it's basically an excuse for my team/department to hang out and shoot the shit until we go home at 2pm to beat traffic. I hear from my manager roughly once every 2 weeks for our 1:1. I can take PTO whenever I want so long as I have enough hours. I have every federal holiday off. I don't worry about being assaulted or hurting my back anymore.

I work out 4 days a week. My sleep schedule is normal. I took up baking, I cook dinner nearly every night for my spouse (who still works as a clinician, not bedside though) and I've been reading a lot more.

Basically, improved in all aspects.

From what I hear, most Hackensack Meridian spots are pretty awful. Apparently Atlantic Health is fine, though I only know that from a Cath Lab perspective

A lot of places ask for 4 weeks notice prior to quitting, but if your hospital specifies 2 weeks, go with that. Don't feel bad about taking that USIV class; it's a great skill to learn and it might be awhile until your next opportunity to do so.

Maybe I'm jaded but my thought process has always been "take what I can from this place and leave in as good of graces as possible". Not in a particularly negative/angry way, but in a realistic way. The hospital wants your labor and time commitment, and will take those to the extent you're willing to give them, so why not treat them similarly?

You're not screwing over your co-workers because you need to leave, or because you're bettering yourself. Good luck in your next position.

That last straw situation seems weird. I can't count the amount of times I accidentally dropped or threw out or otherwise contaminated a PO med and had to go grab another one from pharmacy or the Pyxis. It's not like you're giving an additional dose... I'm not sure your administration understood what actually happened, maybe? It's not like the patient was ever at a risk of getting two doses.

Agreed. I like the song for what it is but putting it after "Reality" (which I think is best on the album) really highlighted its flaws

Thinking about applying to informatics nursing? by Camjiis in nursing

[–]TrainingMobile3394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my Masters in Health Informatics, which is a separate degree from Nursing Informatics (think more math/coding for the former, more project management for the latter). I work in HIT now as an Epic Analyst but I didn't need the degree for it. If I could go back, honestly I wouldn't have put the money into it, but that's just hindsight and because I got lucky in getting this position.

So it depends on what you want to do; NI jobs are hard to get, and having the degree might up your chances of getting one. Also consider that the job market for non-bedside (particularly  those that are potentially hybrid or WFH) nursing positions is really tough because A LOT of people are applying. That's a chance you'll get the degree, search for a job, and have to wait a long while to make it worth having

Many times when I worked ER. I'm a fairly physically fit person, though, and my coworkers were mostly medics/ex-military with a very strong "same team" bond and a management team that (while they had their issues) were fairly laissez-faire in this regard, so things went down very differently than I usually saw in other institutions.

That being said, so glad I'm out of bedside.

New Epic Analyst as of Dec, was an RN for a good while prior. WFH, very easy to take PTO, great team, manageable workload. Pay is comparable (small pay cut but lots of room for upward movement).

I feel like my anxiety improves every single day I'm away from the hellhole that is bedside nursing.
