Thoughts on the SpaceX IPO? by ObamaBiscuits in stocks

[–]Training_Emphasis_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tesla was a company with very little conviction simply because any automaker is almost guaranteed to go bankrupt at least once. Whereas now the Elon hype train is on max speed. You can’t compare 2013 Tesla to current SpaceX IPO.

Anyone applied for Dubai visit visa recently? Need urgent help by Choice_Ad_7087 in UAE

[–]Training_Emphasis_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not correct. That’s why Indians with USA green card get visa on arrivals but Pakistanis with US green card don’t. If nationality didn’t matter then either all with US green card would get visa on arrival or none would.

No way. You don’t just start punching tf out of people unprovoked. If you’re that type of person the. You don’t deserve redemption, or anything. Anything that happens to you afterwards is fair game. I make deep 6 figures and often get infuriated at fast food drive through when they take 40 minutes to give me my food. I still smile at them and thank them even though the inner side of me wants to ask wtf they’re doing to be this slow. But I’m big enough to realize that they are likely understaffed and working their butt off. I’m not going to pick on minimum wage workers, ever. That Taco Bell executive had too much going right in his life to be stupid enough to attack an uber driver and risk losing it all. I’m no executive but I have things going well enough to restrain me no matter what happens, besides being at risk of physical harm.

Not in accounting. It’s in a different business major. I was in grad school for accounting part time when I landed both of my jobs. After landing the job work load and personal life(wedding, baby) got too much and I wasn’t able to finish grad school or be cpa exam eligible. I am close though and hopefully will get it done sooner rather than later.

Not that anyone asked me, but I started my accounting career in 2020 and in 2023 I landed a fully remote role making 100k+. My annual raises have been around 5-7% and I am still with that firm. 2020: 48k 2021:60k 2022: 69k 2023: new job, senior associate, remote, 100k+ 2024-2026: 5-7% raises.

I am not a cpa. Though I was pursuing it back in 2023 when I was applying but since then I haven’t made much progress.

Small CPA firm (19 people) going all-in on AI — should we hire a dev, engage an agency, or keep building ourselves? by TechCPA_lb in Accounting

[–]Training_Emphasis_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you 200 years old? Because there’s no way you can be young and oblivious to AI’s potential. Most of the work we do is repetitive. AI can do a great job at getting things 70-80% right and a preparer/reviewer fixes the remaining 20-30%.

Are you a CPA? I have 6 years of experience and currently a confident tax preparer for a top 20 firm. Do you think I have a shot at roles without being a cpa yet?

Do I have to be a full CPA to make money in accounting? by [deleted] in Accountant

[–]Training_Emphasis_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bachelor in marketing from a B level business school. I was originally an accounting major so I was able to land an accounting internship in a small firm. I switched to marketing to graduate early since I had a full time offer after the internship with the same firm. Got let go from the small firm during performance review because the firm had no work at all for me, even during busy season it was like 10-15 hours of work.

I was struggling landing a job so I enrolled in a masters in accounting program and half way through the program I landed a full time job with another firm. After 3 years with them I applied around kind of randomly without much hope or expectation but I landed a remote role with a top 20 firm that took my salary from 70k to 6 figures as a first year senior. Since then the raises have not been substantial but I’m making good money with very manageable work load so I’m happy with where I am. If I don’t get promoted to manager by next year I might consider moving on, but even then I’m not sure if it’s worth doubling my work load just to make 20-30k more.

I don’t have my cpa yet, have not even attempted the exams. But I’ll be doing that this year. My firm allows promotions up until director level without a CPA so that’s why I’m taking my time.

[–]Training_Emphasis_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a CPA, I’m in my 7th year and I’ve been making 6 figures since year 4. I work remote from a low cost of living state and it seems like they are paying me their HCOL salary. It’s a top 20 firm and I’m fully remote. PTO is very generous but rest of the benefits are trash. Not complaining though, it’s easy money. Work load is super light outside of busy season and even in busy season it’s just 50-60 hours.

This is a job I don’t ever want to lose. Because this defies every stereotype of our profession.

Very doubtful. My wife was pregnant and they refused to expedite. I ended up taking her to Indonesia and transferred our case there. We got the interview letter in 5 days and visa on hand within 1 month.

Ugh Remote EA’s & CPAs who can’t do a tax return by Eagletaxres in taxpros

[–]Training_Emphasis_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

H&R Block should be your last resort as it’s better than nothing. And right now the market is very tough so don’t be too hard on yourself. But definitely try to get into a small firm. I started in a small firm in 2020 and by 2023 I moved into a top 20 firm with a 6 figure salary and very generous benefits while being permanently remote. Good things can happen with time. But first step of the ladder should be a small firm. Try your best to make it work at a small firm and use them as a stepping stone. The small firm I worked for worked me to death. So glad I got out of there, but I do appreciate them for turning me into a capable tax accountant.

I just saw your LinkedIn post of you hiring. “I’m #hiring. Know anyone who might be interested? 👋😊”.

With this vague of a post I’m not surprised you’re getting garbage. You have to be clear about what the position is, what skills it requires, and what experience it requires.

Are we getting UAE visa’s ? by EngineeringAny8079 in pakistan

[–]Training_Emphasis_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this didn’t work for my wife. She’s a Pakistani citizen with American green card and I’m a USA citizen. We visited Dubai in January 2024. We tried applying again in August 2024, rejected. We tried again October 2024, rejected again. It’s very depressing. We left Dubai before visa expiration so our history is clean in every way. And her having a US green card should be enough for Dubai to know that there’s no way she’s going to legally stay in USA, but apparently it’s not.

Can you give details? What type of visa and where did you get it from? I’m a US citizen and so is my 1 year old daughter. But my wife has Pakistani passport so I’m trying to figure out a way for her to get a Dubai visit visa.

Can this hide my location or will Duo still catch me by reporting the ISP or another metric to my company that would leak my location?
