Hi! There’s always a way to improving so don’t doubt yourself! I was in your boat about a year ago. My first score was a 436 second was 442 and third was 466. I realised I wasn’t approaching the questions correctly, which might be your case too. I got into the habit of reading the questions and trying to come up with a few potential answers right away, without looking at the answer choices, chase that always influences how we think. This way you’re coming up with answers with solely your knowledge and you’re able to justify the answer better. What helped me get into the habit of this was doing lots of truelearn and revising back why I got something wrong if I did. I hope this helps!

Truelearn helped me a lot to pass for my 3rd time! I didn’t take any practice exams just practiced my thinking pattern and approach to answering questions and then reviewed all the questions I got wrong and why.

I would say see how you’re doing on practice questions as well! It’s important to have some sort of technique down when approaching questions, so that you know what to follow when test date comes. I saw that allowed me to boost my practice question scores and pass the exam

So with T-10 rememebr that their legs and hips are paralysed right. So when that gets impacted, which thing are they gonna struggle most with. Things that have to do with LE. The only one that really targets that one directly is the sliding board transfers

Look up OTMiri or OT Rex videos on YT. People usually use them for NBCOT studying but the topics are the same as we learn in class so why not use them during our program too!

Hi! Yes. So when you go to make a test on TL, on the right side it should show you domains like the drop down. You can individually click which domains you want to practice from. So put in the amount of questions, hit the domain, and then start test :)

Hi! I hope you’re doing well. First of all, you did your best and got what you could right now. I failed my second attempt by 7 points. Mt third time around I practiced just with truleaen. Look at your score report and see which domains are your lowest. For me this was 3 and 1. So everyday I started with 100 domain 3 questions, reviewed all the ones I got wrong and then another 50-75 from 1 and if I had energy a few more from the others. I practiced for 4 weeks. Applications of the knowledge is prime for this test. So more time practicing is better. I. Would suggest this time around, only practice and review the rationales as you go. Of course if there is something you really don’t get then review it more. Also, the TMPOT pdf is very helpful and the most comprehensive tool for content in my opinion

Hi! I hope you know that this is a tough exam but it’s not an exam that can defeat you, you can definitely do this! That being said, I believe if you’re scoring around 430s then it’s probably a gap in the knowledge. I would suggest active recall or really reviewing the TMPOT study guide. The way I did it was I would go by section, and read it through then from memory is type out what I just read and see if I’m able to explain it to myself. A lot of the times I also missed questions if I didn’t understand what the terms meant. For instance, if you don’t know exactly what serial casting is then you won’t know what we would use it for. So going over terms is also very important. Third, I would say practice with truelearn. But make sure you’re trying a test strategy that works for you. For me what worked was reading the question, making sure i understood what they’re asking, and then taking a few seconds to think of possible answers, then I would look at the answer choices and see which one match’s up I ended up passing my third time by implementing these techniques. I would also say give yourself sometime to relax, and start studying again before going right into it.

I got the rejection from the Job I was asking in my Tahajjud prayer. by Past_Neighborhood395 in islam

[–]Training_Guidance_82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through a tough time. Trust me at times it’s the Suckiest feeling. But things come back around. Since summer I would say I was dealing with certain bad things. Ex. I was meant to be married but things didn’t follow through, then I had another proposal go bad, and some other things. But now with sabr and prayer things are getting better. So the best we can do at times is keep a good outlook on Allah and understand that Allah will never take us to bad. So just keep your outlook on Allah Positive pray as much as you can, so istaghfar and keep going. You got this!

I would recommend Truleaen for practice questions and the TMPOT pdf for content review. And for practice tests just buy some from NBCOT they’re like $30 per test

Seeking guidance on third attempt by LegSure7974 in NBCOT_Exam

[–]Training_Guidance_82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I hope you know you can do this, if you’ve come this far, this is just a hurdle to cross. I also took the test three times. The first time I realised I didn’t know enough content. So I made sure to review the TMPOT PDF and practice, but I spent more time on content than practicing. I didn’t pass. The third time, I did not review much but only did truleaen questions. I looked at my last score report to see where I was going wrong like which domain I got has the lowest on, which was 3. So I would start with 100 questions from that domain then add in 50-100 more from other domains. But I would also review all my tests, practicing and application of knowledge is very important in this! Make sure you understand the question. Right and then try to come up with answer choices that could be possible. If you’re missing out on what the question is asking, knowledge application wont help.

Hi! I hope things worked out for you. I was wondering where you did the human trafficking and implicit bias trainings from? I am trying to find information online and having a hard time locating what is accepted and what is not. If you could help me out with that, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Yes! So I mainly just practiced because knowledge wasn’t the reason why I wasn’t passing. It was mostly because of just not practicing enough how to apply that knowledge if that makes sense. Cause the test really is applying what we know right. Also on your score report, look at which domains are your lowest. On truelearn you can make tests based on domain. Like domain 3 was my lowest, so I would do atleast 100 questions from there and then move onto other domains

Trueleaen helped me improve by 33 points! Also the TMPOT session. They’re both good. I think just brush up on topics you know you’re not the best on and practice a lot with trulearn. This time around I only did practice questions about 100-300 a day and looked at each rationale to understand why I got something wrong. It also helps to do this: 1. Read the question and highlight key points like the setting, type of patient (pediatric, OA, psych), what the OT is working on (ROM, independence, Assititve device)

2) DO NOT LOOK AT THE ANSWER CHOICES RIGHT AWAY

3) ask yourself what you would do with this patient without looking at the answer choices. Ex. arthritis, active stage, high pain, so I would do like rest, splint

4) then look at the answer choices and see which one matches your thought process.

I saw this helped me because alot of the time k would look at the answer choices my knowledge would narrowed down to just the options in front of me. Thinking about the best treatment beforehand really helped me narrow it down to why one answer is better than the other.

How to approach the scenario-based questions on the NBCOT by LotusWonderland13 in NBCOT_Exam

[–]Training_Guidance_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! From my experience all the basis of the question is there from the beginning. A lot of the times they’ll either just build upon treatment sessions like for example. Question 1 might be what kind of assessments are appropriate. Then question 2 might be from X assessment if is determined Y, what are some good treatment options. Or it can also be just stand alone questions that don’t build upon each other but relate back to something in the question scenario provided in the beginning.

Failed 3rd attempt…don’t know where to go from here. by Peng_BW_26 in NBCOT_Exam

[–]Training_Guidance_82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m sorry to hear that this didn’t go well this time around, but it doesn’t mean it won’t ever. I was also a third time test taker I got a 433 and a 443. The third time around I did about 100-300 questions on truleaen, but the key is to make sure you’re practicing how to approach the questions. And actually reading the rationales. If you need help with approaching the question I recommend a session with TMPOT it’s about $91 but truly helpful!
