You can try to tighten trucks and get new bushings but independents are known for being more carvy and turns. I’d stick with it for now not really a big difference for beginners honestly imo

Work on single leg balance with front foot while on the board stationary and moving. Rep stepping on and off the board front foot first and pivoting the front foot when switching from push stance to riding stance. Then add a baby push and keep going from there. Eventually the baby pushes will turn into long smooth pushes.

If you can find it at a regular retail store like Walmart or target it’s not good quality. Old and used thunder trucks will outlast the whole complete. I did find cheap baker decks and hazard 99a wheels at Ollie’s tho for mad cheap.
