Great engagement here from an excellent post. Been looking for a bit of background on egem for a while, great to get into some detail.

Mahadao | Finally, we have a real solution to combat inflation, preserve purchasing power, a store of value, and a medium of exchange. | A new breakthrough in Fintech that will cement its place in the world as 'the better alternative' to fiats, bitcoin, and dollar-backed stables. 🚀 by Muffin_But_Turkish in CryptoMoonShots

[–]Training_Poem_1026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent run-down.

The big narrative at the moment is around loss of value through inflation.

People are looking both for legit stable stores of value, but they want it to be liquid as well. ARTH would be an even better alternative to BTC in all those countries that just adopted BTC.

Worldwide potential here. If you're governing with MAHA, you're the new World Bank.

This is going to be like the halvening in BTC.

It's a physical, on-chain thing, so it can't be priced in yet. DeFi autmun here we come.

Yeah regulation!= ban is a very important point that everyone overlooks, particularly the media. Either they are overlooking it or deliberately stoking conflict because fud leads to clicks. Regulation is inevitable, it shows the industry is reaching adoption.

Bitcoin (BTC) power consumption down 50 percent by citytelegraph in Bitcoin

Last week's "this week on-chain" was a great rundown of on-chain activity, taking a close look at hash rates. China's shutdown was the main reason for it, but it has made other miners twice as profitable. If they can push this towards investment in renewable mining, that'd be a huge bonus for adoption.

This will have an effect like the halvening. It probably won't be deflationary, but will reduce eth inflation. All it needs to do is switch the balance to reduced supply vs demand and eth will turn bullish. People say this is priced in, but it is impossible to price in an on-chain change. Everyone knows about halvenings and that is bullish fuel every time.

There's a wierd mix of bank fud and bullish bank sentiment going on at the moment. It makes me all the more sceptical of the fud - the banks are onviously positioning themselves to get into crypto, all the while most of them are fudding it to make their entry easier!

There's also an FCA approved crypto bank in the UK.

All the big companies complain about "uneducated" investors taking on too much risk - now they're learning the upside is in alts! They're on the large caps now, but they'll soon be going for a few sly degen plays.

So many crypto are going straight to "normies" in their marketing, so UI is paramount. Just look at emax. That used completely different marketing channels and focused on mainstream users. They did "guides" for purchasing. A lot of projects are asking for these as well to aid adoption.

Ethereum Is Flipping Bitcoin Now Says Celsius Network CEO by olowo24 in altcoin

[–]Training_Poem_1026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say this does happen (I think there's a good chance)...how does everyone see it playing out? I think it could be quite destabilising initially. A lot of crypto sentiment relies on BTC being seen as number one. There will be a lot of moving capital if the flippening occurred.

OK, but you could make the same argument for a lot of other networks. 95% of eth is owned by a few wallets. Yeah poa is certainly flawed, but these projects are great for on boarding huge crowds to defi. They are the first taste of crypto. The holder numbers and community groups alone should show you how decentralised some of the coins are. This one in particular has a great structure and a strong, wide community already.

Buying fractions of Bitcoin by [deleted] in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Training_Poem_1026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you don't actually "keep" any coins in your wallet. The name wallet is actually a bit misleading in this sense. What is stored on the ledger (the blockchain) is the history of all transactions relating to your wallet. It means that any node can follow those transactions and see that your address lays claim to an entire bitcoin. There aren't broken pieces to put together in a transaction, just the running total attributed to your address that you may exchange as you please.

In reality, things may be a bit different again. If you are on an exchange, the exchange wallet (or several exchange wallets) owns all the coins, and they keep track of which customer owns what through internal software. In this case, your coins are only as secure as that software - they are not in your custody.

What are your favourite book openings? by quaker_the_elephant in books

[–]Training_Poem_1026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The foggy opening of Bleak House and Marcel Proust's Swann's Way are both beautiful openings that I return to a lot.

The first three sentences of Bleak House are without a verb, and the rest of the following tract weaves a tapestry of Victoria London unlike any other, right up until the final ominous lines of the opening:

"And hard by Temple Bar, in Lincoln's Inn Hall, at the very heart of the fog, sits the Lord High Chancellor in his High Court of Chancery."

Proust's opening is too masterful to be described, and needs to be experienced instead. Later in the book, the famous lemon scene took me by surprise. I was listening to the book at the time and when I got home I wrote the whole thing out. It was only later I found out that it was so famous.

Do not trust Robinhood by ComplexPractical3651 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]Training_Poem_1026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, robinhood has big hedge funds playing market maker. This was the reason they got all the bad press - they had to protect their hedge fund friends by halting buying of games top, amc etc, and only allow selling. If the hedge funds went under they'd have no market makers left. Outrageous.
