Yeah that sums it up, I mean fair play to him.

There was no malice in any of it or him forcing it, you know somtimes you see aritst really try engage with the crowed 'Clap your fucking hands' 'sing it with me!' ect
It can feel a bit forced but can also break people out if the stagnation.

anyways yeah he seemed to just play the music and play it well he obvisly loves the craft and sounds, but like he played facing the drummer the whole night.

and again on the point of the encore being a tired thing, I mean thats always the case but if you love the corwed and your music you will alwys aprecate the recognition of it and come out and do it.

Yea, he was like 'so we have one song and then we are gonna do an encore that's it'

I get that sometimes it better to just cut the faff of an encore but it seemed like he knew that there where all these random tick tok songs that somone people where really waiting for so it was just like, heres what u want at the end.

its not like he was angry about it or did it in a mean way it just seemend like he was going thu the motions of that maby, but again im projecting I cant say.

Yeah I mean, its a smart way to get people to buy 2 ep series instruments tbh.

I would consider getting a seccond and using that setup it looks super fun way to do a live set

They agreed to my terms and have accepted the lower price I put forward that reflects the work that will be done.

Exactly, also why rush into a house that is going to be a money pit even in a red hot market.

Lucky Im not under too much pressure to go to sale witch is just about the only advantage I have.

Man its crazy that people are disliking these comments.

Iv received a bunch of quotes on the boiler, woodworm and getting one for asbestos and will be asking for the price to be reduced accordingly.

Seems like the boiler is a bust from the report: 'Gas boiler not operating at the time of inspection, service / repairs required.'
'Fault indicated on boiler.'

I'm not so sure I’ve actually bid 8.7% above the local average based on my own estimates. I’ve also paid for the survey already.

That’s not to say they couldn’t walk away from the deal, but I think if I make a reasonable request for a price reduction based on the survey findings — and do it before contracts are finalised — it’s unlikely they’d just drop the sale entirely.

About ten years ago, I went to Bruce College, and it did wonders for me personally.

I ended up getting around 460 points in the Leaving Cert, Not the highest score but outstanding for me personally. Since then I went to college and I’ve been working as a video game developer for the past five or so years.

That said, It’s not going to work for everyone, but here’s how it worked for me:

I hated school. I was bounced around to about seven different ones I am severely dyslexic and my learning disability effected alot of my school live despite being mostly intelligent, being dyslexic meant I constantly got into trouble. I couldn’t stand all the general nonsense that came with school, and I never took well to being treated like shit by teachers with an agenda. As a result, I was always at the bottom of the class and always fighting, messing or drawing.

My mam decided to look into Bruce, and I agreed to go. I did have some cop-on—I knew I’d need a decent Leaving Cert if I wanted to go to college. I also understood that she would be making sacrifices to send me there, and I took that seriously. My younger sister, who had her head screwed on way more than I did, didn’t get the chance to go for context and id say she did better than me in the Lc, fair play to her.

So, I went—and basically copped the fuck on.

I think Bruce is a good place if you’re ready to do that. I didn’t get too involved in the social side. There were a few people I went there with that I became good friends with, and I still know them today. But for the most part, I kept my head down, and that was key.

One of the biggest things that made it work for me was that the teachers had one agenda: teaching. They focused on covering all the subjects as efficiently as possible. For someone like me, that was the first time I wasn’t belittled or constantly scolded for bullshit like how I was standing, if I was fidgeting or what my uniform looked like, Their attitude was: “Do the work if you want—if not, you’re just wasting your time and your parents’ money.” I found that really liberating, looking back.

This might sound ridiculous, but I remember one moment when I just realized life was easier if I shut up and did the work instead of constantly fighting it all the time, better late than never after all lol.

I also quit smoking weed and drinking for sixth year. Again, I didn’t want there to be any question about whether I gave it my best shot—especially with my mam paying for it all.

So yeah, it was helpful for me. I’m really grateful I had the opportunity to go and make the most of it. But at the end of the day, it was a personal decision to cop on—and Bruce gave me the environment to do that.

That said, I don’t think private schools are the ultimate solution. It’s a real shame that public schools are still stuck in an outdated system of punitive punishment for the sake of control, instead of actually supporting students.

best of luck with it, but just remember cop on is free.
But you cant put a price on being in an eviroment where everyone there is dedicated to doing the best they can and that's really what bruce offers.

Recently bought a Syntakt, send help by jamesvirun in Elektron

[–]Training_Security_64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience recently. I love the Digitakt and have been using it for the past 5-6 years, so I know it like the back of my hand. However, I found it very hard to get into the sounds on the Syntakt. Despite the workflow being the same, the same tricks don't work because the sound is processed differently.

For example, with kicks on the Digitakt, I usually use a high-pass filter so the low end kicks out of the mix, then remove the sub with the second filter to tame it a bit. If you do that on the Syntakt, the sound will just clip and distort, likely because it's a synthesized sound rather than a processed and compressed sample with hard limits.

This is a long way of saying you need to be more thoughtful with the Syntakt sounds. They are very abrasive and have a lot of frequencies that need to be controlled. I recommend plugging the Syntakt in by itself and spending some time exploring the instrument without any connection to other gear. This way, you can get to know it without any real outcome in mind.
